Neighbor

My favorite memory from yesterday: When our little neighbor (8 years old) came over from her perch on the sofa for a hug and a kiss from me.

Thoughts

It can be good to be an independent thinker - wouldn't want to be a "sheeple".

Christmas Tree Lights

So - one section of the lights on the tree have been blinking off. (Not supposed to do that.) My patient, persistent Hubby took every bulb off the string and then put them in again, not just once, and "voila"! My Hero (Again, and Always)!

Shopping

Managed to snag a super deal on a Christmas gift. Even walked through the mall without getting punched, kicked or run over. I guess I used up today's allotment of misfortune when I was getting embarrassed yesterday.

Thanksgiving Day

So today I'm a total klutz: I dropped a glass lid (which shattered everywhere), I dumped over a glass full of orange soda, I didn't know there was a mountain of mashed potatoes under my shoe as I was loading the dishwasher (it got ground into the rug) & I forgot to serve the ham that I had bought specially for The Hubby who doesn't care for turkey. By that time I was embarrassed and ready to hide in bed. And it was only 4 p.m.

size

If I have to be short, can't I at least be skinny? (Clearly I'm a'thinking how I'm going to feel tomorrow post-turkey.)

Worry Works!

After all my worry and fuss, chewing my fingers down to the nubbins, and starting a new ulcer: It worked! All of the solar panels are safely installed on the roof, none got broken and The Hubby and Son are safe and sound with no injuries. I should have tried this approach a long time ago. (Thanks, My Love - You are always amazing! And Son: we owe you big time!!)

Roof

It's scary to see my son and The Hubby up on the roof. But guys, you do great work!! The solar panel project will be so fabulous to have.

friends

Thought today about making friends again with those pounds I lost. Wishing we were still not friends.

It's hard to not make friends with chocolate, cookies, and treats.

Together

Sheer heaven to have The Hubby home again. I think I might actually cook dinner tonight. China and candles?

Can't Wait

I just received word that The Hubby's flight has been delayed 3 1/2 hours. I think I'll hop in the car and drive to CA and get him.

Or maybe I should just find a restaurant and eat myself silly. That would make 8 meals out in 5 days, no repeats, and I could have actually done a few more if I'd been hungrier.

Pain

This morning's random thought (of gratitude) sponsored by: Ibuprofen!

Eggs

Eating breakfast alone this morning - got so eggcited I had to take a picture of what happened. I cracked open an egg - and out popped two, that's right, two yolks. Highlight of my day. (Lest anyone think I am truly pathetic, that was said with tongue firmly in cheek.)

Feet

Morton's neuroma?

Twilight

I'm thinking it is ok to not be enamored of the Twilight Series (Stephanie Meyer). (I couldn't sleep if I thought someone was staring down at me all night from the ceiling.)

Good / not so good

Fed Ex packages that arrive when / where they're supposed to: Good.

Pain in my foot, especially when trying to walk: Not so Good.

Beautiful day for a five mile walk: Good.

Food

Five Guys for lunch makes it one restaurant down, a minimum of 5 to go. (Or does the deli at Harmon's count?)

This Week

Do I know / like enough restaurants so that I can basically eat out every meal while The Hubby is gone?

Time

I know that time seems to go faster the older you get. Why, then, does my body seem to move slower?

Food

Despite my best intentions, I snarfed a chocolate frosted chocolate doughnut today.

Next stop: gastric bypass surgery. I'll need it.

Tags

I'm waging a personal war against clothing tags: they itch and scratch and tickle and they just have to go!

Same goes for those bumpy neck seams that chafe and irritate and bother. Is there nothing to wear that's comfortable anymore?

Leaves Again (Or is it Still?)

Today was a day to be glad for a chipper/shredder that made the leaf removal much more manageable. Beautiful day for it as well

Can It Really Be November?

This last week has been unbelievable weather. Record warm temperatures every day with nearly cloudless blue blue skies. Absolutely stunning.

Last Page

It is perfectly logical for me to read (and quite often do) the last page of the book before I finish it. If it is stupid / doesn't end well / doesn't resolve things, then I can decide if I want to waste anymore time reading the book. For me, it is a good indicator of how enjoyable the book's journey will be on the way to the end.

There are no rules that say I must read every book I start, from beginning to end. Why then does it bother so many people that I do this? This is not a "failing" of my personality, and does not require comment.

I've found a way that works for me and that I enjoy. That's good enough.

Morning

Up at 6:45: 37 degrees. Biking gloves, wind-resistant pants, wind-resistant jacket, 180's for the ears and I was ready for a bike ride. I haven't managed to do that for awhile, did 10 miles and loved every bit of it. Even had to take off the gloves for the last mile.

What a luxury to have so many different options for my morning exercise: biking, walking, treadmill, videotapes.....

Envy

Striving really hard to not envy, and to be full of contentment. Probably will be a lifelong effort.

Monday

I think Monday's can be tough.

Weekends

Weekends are so much better when The Hubby is home. Raking leaves together reminded us how much we love to be together and enjoy working together. Loved seeing some of the grandchilluns in their Halloween costumes.
