Yes, I'm Still Here

So sad they're done.
Though it's been a while since I've posted.  I've been a tad busy.  Putting eye drops in my eyes.  3 different drops.  Four times a day.  Minimum of 5 minutes between drops.  Times two eyes.  (Plus the latest version of the pressure reducing drops, both eyes, once a day.) Sigh...  It messes up mascara so I'm reduced to eye liner, but still it's nice to feel like I'm not totally make-up naked.  Still unable to use any kind of foundation.  But so far no one's mocked my skin.  Yet.

It's been an interesting weekend.  The Husband had a couple of good pals when we were high school-ers. I affectionately called them the three musketeers.  They got into all kinds of mischief together.  Another one of the trio (and his wife) are in town this week, needed a bed for Saturday night.  So we hosted them here.  (Our suite is a queen bed and foundation on the floor of the ping pong room.  TV tray for a nightstand that holds a dead (because the ticking is too loud) clock and a couple small lamps.  Not quite hotel standards, but it was free so they went for it.)   I was so concerned about dinner on Saturday night (long waits at not-taking-reservations-restaurants, dietary restrictions, no idea when they'd arrive) that it totally never occurred to me I'd be responsible for feeding them lunch (I had figured on breakfast, we made the friend cook the eggs so they'd be to his liking) as well.  We haven't seen either of them since we graduated - and this year is our 50th class reunion (no, we're not going, no desire to see a bunch of fat old people drinking).

It was good to reconnect.

The situation meant we couldn't attend our own ward's Sacrament meeting.  So we went to the 5th Ward's and enjoyed it a lot, we got to see our good friends M & T.  But I really did miss our own ward.  I'm familiar with its quirks.

A few of the flock around me.
Over the last week, we've done a few errands, accomplished some maintenance around here, kept up with the regular chores, been to the library to re-supply my basket with something good to read, been disconnected (not our choice) on Find-My-Friends by a couple granddaughters, celebrated the 4th with a bit of family and just generally tried to stay on an even keel.  Sometimes that's a tad easier than others.

I'm in the midst of Relief Society lesson preparation, got more laundry going (including the sheets and towels from the company), have some needlework stuff in progress and feel mostly productive.  Though I like the freedom to just say forgetaboutit sometimes and sit and veg in front of NetFlix or Amazon Prime.

Love, love, love that balance.
What?
I've thoroughly enjoyed my walks, including the ones accompanied by these geese, who didn't seem to mind my presence, they were within 3 or 4 feet of me, I could have reached out and touched them.  The orchid blooms are finally spent on this particular one, though I'm so grateful they lasted the few months (yes: months) that they did. The hoya plant is blooming like crazy, the flowers are so pretty (but not smelling them, the scent is nasty).

I'm grateful today for someone that vows to always be my friend, confidant, advisor and true love.  I couldn't manage the heartaches of life without him.  I'm grateful for the solar panels that have resulted in two months of low electric bills (just over $20 in June is a hooray moment, even though most of it is due to the weird weather).  I'm grateful for the yummy peas from our garden, they're fabulous in our salads.  The Husband was grateful we didn't have to pay $99 / 3 bottles of pepsi (when it's on sale he gets tempted) but was happy to pay $.99 / each when we bought three. I'm grateful that I don't have 1,300,452 pictures on my phone of family that I insist on showing to my hostess.   (Yup, that was interesting).  And I'm so grateful for our home where we are comfortable and feel our best.
