I like to have a bit of a project in January. Decided kind of spur of the moment to knit a scarf for a friend whose birthday I thought was later in the month. Scrambled to get the supplies and work on it. Then didn't care for the pattern with this particular yarn. So, Tuesday evening about 8:00 I took it all apart and started over. Sigh.

Hope she likes it.
Finished the knitting last night then put on the fringe this morning. I'm so excited to have it done in time for the birthday (which is Sunday). I'm frankly almost embarrassed to give it to her, it has so many faults. I should have found out her favorite color instead of flying blind, I should have started earlier so I wouldn't feel so pressured, and the skein of yarn ran out two rows from the end so there's a sorta (who am I kidding - it isn't sorta, it truly is) ugly, obvious knot right above the fringe. I hope she knows how much she's cared for even if my skills are much exceeded by my ambition.

Yep, a coyote
Yesterday morning as I was crossing the street over by the city park I noticed what at first looked like a dog run onto the trail. Didn't take me long to discover it was a coyote. First time I've ever seen one so close in town like that. It wasn't sure what to do, didn't like being hemmed in on both sides by fence and at the end by me. After uncertainly circling a bit, it headed off down the trail to the next street crossing where it jumped up on the RR tracks that border the trail. I kept my eye out and managed to snag a couple pictures of it - mangy looking thing. Was glad there was a fence between us.

Went out to get the mail and was astonished by the number of thank you cards. And I haven't even sent any out yet. In fact, I believe I did a number of them by email this year. I think I'm getting lazy and feel totally shown up by those with better manners than me. Good on them for taking the time and effort to make me feel important even with a thank you note.
And today is the last day of The Husband's work hiatus. He's had a few naps over that last bit of time (though probably fewer than he'd have liked), we've been to a couple movies, treated ourselves to breakfast out, will lunch out with a friend today, caught up on some tv and did the Costco shopping. We've had a great time just being together, our favorite.

Full of Gratitude
I'm so grateful today for contentment. I love that feeling - that there's absolutely nothing I really need, nothing I have to acquire. It brings a certain sense of peace to my soul that I'm sure is what Heavenly Father likes for us.
I was so happy yesterday to receive a call from a friend/sister I visit teach. She had a question she needed help with. I ended up walking over to her house to help her and we enjoyed a lovely quick chat. She's a pretty independent person, and didn't really need any help, just another opinion / bit of moral support. I'm so glad she called!
I'm grateful for prayers that often are fervently uttered but answered in small simple ways. I'm grateful for the opportunity to fast on Sunday, I've several concerns that will be address in the strongest way I know, by sacrificing a bit of time and food to make clear my desires to Heavenly Father. I'm grateful for something to read, and another project to get back to. For a couple things to look forward to next week while The Husband is away beginning his new job. I'm grateful for the sunshine. And for thoughtful souls.
