A Diagnosis

At least a tentative one, assuming the response to the antibiotic is positive.  After a nearly sleepless night yet again because of the coughing - and more coughing -  I decided three weeks is long enough.  First thing this morning I called the Dr.'s office.  And was amazed at how much effort was required to make some noise come out of my mouth in the form of words.  (I could surely give some politeness/kindness lessons to those women who answer the phones.  Their flippant attitude isn't helpful when someone is ill.)

So, anyway, I ended up with an 11:15 a.m. appointment.  (I finally walked out of the office at about 1:20.  Poor doctor - he was handling all the appointments for 4 doctors.)

Diagnosis:  bronchitis with possible mild case of walking pneumonia.

I've an antibiotic prescription and a capsule for the coughing.  And as a backup a prescription that I can fill for a cough syrup with codeine. (Don't want to have to use that.)  If I don't begin to improve they'll do a chest x-ray (though he said my lungs sounded clear, which I expected, this has never been in my chest) and send me off to an ENT.  I'm counting on the medication to do the trick.

So prestty.
So, yes, it started out as a cold, but when I was weak, that nasty bacteria snuck in and made itself at home and has been causing me no end of misery.  I'm glad that I didn't wait any longer.  He actually seemed a bit puzzled that after three weeks I was no better.  (In fact, today I feel worse but figured that was because I haven't been getting any sleep.)

Feeling like I deserved a bit of pampering after that exhausting visit to the doctor I treated myself to Corner Bakery chicken pomodori sandwich.  And at this very moment there's a small scoop of Freddy's chocolate frozen custard in the freezer waiting for my spoon. What a luxury that'll be.

Totally true for me!!
Had to take a picture of my newest nail polish.  I don't wear it on my hands - can't stand the way my hands/nails feel like they can't breathe.  But...I do like to wear it on my toenails when the weather is warm (it is snowing outside!).  I stopped yesterday on my way home at Ulta (had a gift card from Christmas) and got myself some new color. I would never spend $10 on something like that if I had to pay cash.  But a gift card is a gift twice - once when you receive it and once when you spend it. It's so pretty!

So, today, I'm grateful for the moisture coming from the clouds, we so need it.  But I'm equally grateful I'm tucked inside for the rest of the day/night.  Yes, our home is my happy place. I'm grateful that I was able to get in to see the doctor and that he didn't say that I'd just have to tough it out, but acted like it was totally reasonable after three weeks to get some medical advice.  I'm grateful for gift cards.  And I'm grateful that today is Thursday - The Husband gets home in a bit over 24 hours.  I'll be counting the minutes!!
