We had a fairly nice weekend. Stayed home Friday evening like I like to do (Papa Murphy's makes dinner easy every once in a great while). Saturday was a day of accomplishing things: The Husband and grandson helped out on a work service project that was arranged for the former High Priest Group Leader by his wife. She told people he'd spent so much time on his calling, helping people out that he'd neglected his own little plot of ground so much that it was out of control and overwhelming. There was a bunch of people there doing their best to help. Then The Husband came home and mowed the lawn, trimmed and edged and did a lot of work. I keep offering to get a service again this year, but, no.

Sunday's meetings were fine. But the fun came after when we drove across the valley to help celebrate our granddaughter's 12th birthday. She is truly one-of-a-kind. When she began to unwrap her gifts, we learned that she'd basically bought them all herself. She'd gone shopping online, finding what she wanted at a couple websites and put the items in her Mom's online cart. So everything she received, was exactly what she wanted. She even made and frosted her own birthday cake. Too funny. She'd previously told me she wanted a cat. "Don't tell my parents, just get it." The best I could in good conscience do was a small stuffed cat.
I usually take the weekends off from my morning walk. Sometimes I can cajole The Husband into a walk late afternoon or early evening on Sundays, but it's harder with the late church schedule. So I was anxious to get out on the trail this morning. I had a book to return to the library so that was my goal/route and I loved it. The trail was mostly empty, I wasn't responding fifty million times to "good morning" or "hi". (After the first time or two it gets annoying.) The view across the valley was so beautiful, the clouds were an ever-changing picture in the sky, sometimes dark- looking like rain, and other times just big and white fluffies. The best part: The Husband walked out to meet me. Lovely way to finish the walk, begin the day.
I'm so grateful for opportunities to fast - I rely on that help that comes from such a small sacrifice. I'm grateful for plenty of salt for the water softener and seed for the birdies. I'm grateful for sunshine and water for the lawns. I'm grateful that we'll have a bit of a garden this year, it'll be fun to have fresh tomatoes!
