Readers

Since the cataract / stent surgeries on my eye in June, it's been a journey.  One of figuring out. Discovering what works and what doesn't.

I've purchased a gazillion readers in different strengths.  (In fact our son was over the other night and mentioned that he needs some readers and between The Husband and I, we were able to come up with a store-worthy selection for him to choose from.)    I use one strength for cross-stitching and hand sewing, another for sewing at the machine, another for regular walk-through-my-daily-life use.  Then there are the sunglasses, the regular bifocals (no correction in the top, just in the bottom for reading, etc.) and the myriad places I keep them so I can always see, no matter what.

Love them - regardless.
I've concluded that I need narrow (top to bottom) lenses so I can easily see the real world above what I'm doing close up.  And then, I prefer the spring hinges, they're sturdier.  The Husband has been amazingly kind and patient as I've tried to figure things out.  And I've mostly done ok.

Just received my latest pair.  (And hopefully the last pair I'll spend $ on for a bit. These were on clearance, and I had a 40% off coupon, love to take advantage of these rare-for-me deals.)  I hope I have the courage to wear them out and about.  I love that there isn't any frame on the top of the lenses - easier to see over as I move my eyes up and down.

All that said, I feel totally and completely ridiculous in them.  They are "different" looking, not the usual perch on the edge of your nose glasses.  Kind of out-there a bit.  I put them on, looked in the mirror and laughed.

I imagine others will laugh at me, also.  I guess the bottom line is:  here in my little teensy corner of the world, I'm changing it.  One smile, one laugh at a time.  All because I look silly.😊
