The nativity is boxed, the tree is down, the stockings packed away and the house feels almost "fresh". I do enjoy the Christmas trimmings, but always have an involuntary sigh when things are back to normal. At least whatever normal is.

| Love the raindrops. |
We walked up to Walgreen's (in the drizzle - I loved the way the raindrops collected on the branches of the trees we saw as we walked up the hill) on Christmas day for the batteries I completely forgot were required. Thank goodness they were open - batteries seemed to be the hot seller. We apologized to the clerk for having to come on Christmas day, but she was pleasant.

| Market bag turned out nice. |
I finished a market tote I'm giving a friend for her birthday in a week's time. I hope she likes it. It's one of those things you either use or you don't. I won't be offended either way, I put a bit of love in every stitch, regardless of who ends up with it.

Tayberry jam on toast: yum! |
We stopped in at the grocery up the hill the day before Christmas to find these reindeer. I sorta wished they'd been up and moving, but I guess they were resting up for their journey.
Yes, that's a picture of toast. Our friends gave us some tayberry jam. I hadn't a clue what a tayberry is, so had to try it first thing. It's yummy! I suspect our friend bought that when we went to the Farmer's Market in the fall. She's very thoughtful. And I received some fun socks for Christmas, from a fellow reader. They're comfy and cute. My granddaughter noticed them first thing, she also likes to read. What a fun thing to share.

| Rare Reindeer sighting |

We received something we'd never buy for ourselves (it
might have been a re-gift, but whatever) - a refillable popcorn tub from our local movie theater. We promptly went to a movie, brought home most of the popcorn. I liked the movie better than The Husband. Little Women is really more for females anyway. It was a lovely afternoon.
We've been out and about off and on over the last few days. Our schedule is nothing compared to some who have family they're close to. Mostly I envy them. But sometimes I think that it might be too much for me. I'm such a stodgy old lady - I thrive on peace, calm and some alone time. I'm strange that way.
Now it'll be good to settle in for the rest of the day. My book, my comfy chair and my fireplace are calling to me.
