Finally.
So, I was super frustrated with those prescription sunglasses I ordered. Two weeks later they were finally ready to pick up. (Remember, this is two weeks after the first two weeks, so over a month since they were ordered.) I think they might actually have been ready earlier but it wasn't until I called that after checking: "I see they just came in this morning". (That has happened every single time, too coincidental.) Went over to pick them up and the guy who was supposed to help me wasn't there. But, a gal was able to fit them properly and I walked away with them. The prescription is great. The tint isn't anywhere near as dark as I wanted but by this time I was weary of fussing with the office / lab about them so I'm just putting up with it. But, surprisingly, I quite like them. A totally different style than I generally go for, but maybe I'm ready for different.
Had a chat with The Husband. After research I had determined that he really needed some specific shoes for his feet. It always hurts me so much to see him limping. So I said we were going to get some new shoes for him. I was prepared for the cost (after gulping in dismay while doing the research, so by this time I was prepared) and told him I didn't care, I was going to get these for him. And I was having no arguments. :^) So, off we went, found the most comfortable ones in that brand, brought them home and he's worn them pretty much every day since. And says his feet do feel better. Well done.

Fabulous reuben
Decided to take a tiny getaway. Made all the arrangements (including leaving the house in the capable and kind hands of our daughter). Got myself mentally prepared. Were going to Idaho Falls and while there see a couple grandkids (actually they're adults now, but they'll always be kids to us). Had a little hiccup that had us re-thinking things. But decided to go ahead anyway. Then, the morning before we were to leave received word our grandson just tested positive for COVID. Sigh. What to do? Since the hotel was pre-paid in full and non-refundable and I'm not awfully excited about wasting money, off we went. So grateful for my little Subaru (we averaged 31 mpg the whole trip) that's comfortable enough for a four hour trip. Did the river walk the afternoon we arrived and, whew, was it ever hot. Ate at a place called The Celt and had the very best reuben sandwich (one of my favorites) I've ever had. Had a nice distanced-porch-visit with our two grandkids and it was lovely. So glad we got to at least chat for a few minutes. Not so glad about spending so much time over those couple days outside in the heat. It about did me in.

Such Fun!
Coming home we detoured to highway 89 along what they call Fruit Way just south of Brigham City. I hear all the time about the awesome fruit / veggie stands along there. We didn't buy anything, or even drive the entire length of the road where the stands are. But I saw enough to know I didn't need a thing. But...I've heard for years about Maddox restaurant. Everyone raves over it and says "you must go". Since we were driving right past and we hadn't eaten anything since the yummy chocolate croissant about 9:15 that morning (and I said again: every day should begin and end with chocolate) we decided to splurge on a decent meal.
After all the raving I've heard I have to say I was a bit under-impressed. The rolls were extraordinary. The raspberry butter for them excellent. The rest of the meal was just average. Pricey (but then I'm saying that about everything these days) but it was really just an ok meal. Removing the skin from the chicken pieces removes a lot of the flavor when it's fried - at least that's my opinion. The Husband's meal was good, he said, but really a place like that is wasted on us. W-a-y too much food (when you each want something different and sharing isn't really an option). That was a first for us, too, eating there. Probably won't go out of our way to go there again, all the urging from other people notwithstanding. But it was worth a try...once.
We've discovered that when we're on a bit of a road trip we seem to eat fewer meals, but bigger ones and I've come to know that a big meal just makes me miserable. Frankly, though, even if it was only a roughly 36 hour trip, it was very good for us to get away. As well as very good to be happily home again.
I've 3 books from the library to read in a hurry (they can't be renewed) and another two (that also can't be renewed) waiting at the library for me to pick them up. But only an overnight trip means not tons of extra laundry needing done immediately. The biggest thing will be the garden harvesting that The Husband will work on in the morning, when it isn't 100 degrees outside.
So grateful for the ability to get out-and-about for a bit. For the new hearing aids that seem to help The Husband, for really good shoes when you're on your feet for hours at a time, for decent sunglasses and for our Home Sweet Home.
