If your feet aren't happy, you aren't happy. When the sandals for summer first started being on shelves, we were at Dillards (one of my favorite purse and shoe browsing places) and I tried on this pair of Danskos. They were so cute. But s-o-o expensive. The Husband offered to buy them for me but I simply couldn't justify them and I've managed all summer long with the shoes that I have. (A pair of white slides from Walmart that are at least 8 years old and were quite cheap have been my go-to.) Anyway, I put them on my wish list on Amazon so I wouldn't forget the ones I really liked.
Imagine my surprised delight when a package arrived the other day from Amazon. Those sandals. From one of our two generous daughters. For my birthday.
Wore them quite a bit yesterday. And yup. They're keepers. They are among the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I love them. And I can wear them with pants or skirts. What an unexpected but thoughtful gift. Both of our daughters are uber kind, generous creative, thoughtful and more. We're so grateful for them both.
And the accompanying for our former neighbor at another ward yesterday? Went ok. She sang better than I've heard her in our rehearsals. I had practiced and practiced. Took ibuprofen before heading to the church, spent several minutes prior to playing exercising (warming up the muscles) my hands. I made two (glaring to me) mistakes and one spot where my little trill wasn't quite in sync with the singer, but overall I think it went pretty well. I hope they're pleased. And especially hope it was acceptable to Heavenly Father - we so wanted to bring the Spirit.
So grateful for wonderful daughters who are wonderfully good adults, grateful for produce to share around, grateful for new shoes and for lunch out today with a couple (he's our family's ministering brother). I'm always grateful for good books to read and today for the hope of some good rain over the next few days.
