Did a little yard walkabout. Checking out the trees. Ended up discouraged. That wet, dense heavy snow that has damaged so many of the trees in the valley did a bit of a number on our trees.
We have 10 pines lining the back and side of our yard along the fence. The two of us planted everyone of them (the south four we had to plant twice as the wind blew them out of the ground the first night we planted them) the first fall we lived in this house. They were roughly 6 feet tall at that time and have done so well. They're beautiful and are so good for our environment, helping with shade and air.We have three limbs littering the back yard and one from the front BlueAtlas Cedar that we pulled off to the side. Concerned about the drooping of a couple fairly large limbs we took a look. They are cracked nearly through. Up high, 15-20 feet off the ground. Not something The Husband can trim by himself. We'll have to get a tree service. Sigh....
And I hope we don't lose them, though the tallest one looks the most troubled. If we take off the bottom branches (the ones with issues) it'll be probably 20 feet tall with no branches at all, only ones at the top level. And that's not a good look on those kinds of trees.I'm so grateful we've enjoyed all the trees these last 22+ years. I'll be grateful if we can save them. (Our neighbor was definite about how people don't like the big trees and that could possibly be a deal breaker should we decide to sell out house. Not taking them out until we absolutely have to. The world needs trees, including ours.)
