Thursday, Again

I'm running out of creativity for the titles of my posts.  I've too many unrelated ideas bouncing around in my head for a theme to head the collection.
Mirror Lake

It's been hot.  We are ever grateful for our working air conditioners.  Ran into a couple yesterday who had to have theirs replaced, he mentioned $11,000 for the new one.  Makes me shudder.

Since it's hot, we're staying inside a lot. The Husband tries to do the yardwork early in the day, which helps a bit.

The other night our financial guy hosted a movie night where we saw "Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1". Intense for sure.  I'm certain I was the only one that laughed in a couple spots.  AI is the latest enemy in the movies/media.  And it definitely scares me.  Though I did thoroughly enjoy the movie in spite of it's heavy-handed scare tactics.  It almost felt like science fiction though I know AI is not that.  Had to make myself some make-shift earplugs because the movie was so loud, and the front section of the theater isn't my favorite, we tend to be back row people at the movies. (Note to self:  if there's another movie night from this guy, get seats first and then use the complimentary concession card.)

Picked up an outdoor security camera.  There's lately so much going on outside our home in the wee hours, we need some kind of assistance.  The Husband is working on getting it all up and running properly, it is taking a bit of doing.  Crossing my fingers that it will help.

One positive thing:  received a flyer from the Utah Symphony.  We had season tickets (Pops series, more fun than the classical stuff) for years and years.  Then they got too expensive and our income got reduced. So we quit.  But this seemed almost doable.  There's only 4 performances.  Decided to call and chat with someone. Ended up getting such a discount that it seemed wrong to walk away from it.  I'm so excited, I think it'll be great fun.

Yesterday was the anniversary of our Temple Sealing.  We decided to take a little day trip.  Headed up to Mirror Lake, haven't ever been there that I recall. Beautiful is an understatement.  Quite cloudy, in fact as we were leaving there we ran into some rain.  Here in the valley the temps were in the upper 90's.  Up there it was in the 60's.  I loved it.  We wandered along the trail that circles the lake (battling the hordes of mosquitoes), took pictures and just relaxed.  Our celebration meal:  milkshakes at Leatherby's, quite a rare treat for us.

More lakeside blooms
The garden is doing ok so far.  The tomatoes have begun and I'm thinking I'm going to have to give some away.  We planted some veggie seeds we've (I use "we" but actually it is The Husband doing all the gardening.  I just go out and tell the plants they're doing great and leave the heaving lifting to The Husband, he's ever so much better at it than me.) never planted before, but the label is long erased by the hot sun. I keep hoping I'll figure out which plant it is.  I'll probably use my phone for that.

This morning was the day for my annual eye exam.  I was only gone from the house for about 45 minutes.  all is well.  Except for my eye pressure, it's still higher than they really like.  But has been consistently higher and consistently pretty much the same for years.  He'll check in 6 months.  I was happy to hear that I'm seeing better than most of his patients after cataract surgery.  The floaters are annoying but I think that's my lot for now. I already had some before the cataract surgery and no one mentioned anywhere along the way that floaters got worse or were more prevalent after that kind of surgery.  I'd probably still have done it.

Found coins
The Husband always looks for wildlife (i.e. deer) and money on our morning walks.  Today, again, he was rewarded with both.  The first coin he found had landed on a hot spot of tar in the street so it melted into it so far we couldn't get it up.  But as we looked around we found several more coins.  A few pennies and other coins that are non-US coins.  We had a fun few minutes looking around (in the middle of an intersection) for some more.

Today's gratitude is for the luxuries that we enjoy:  our comfortable home (even in 100+ degrees), somewhere fun to visit, produce from our own garden, early morning walks where we can say hi to a friend I haven't seen in a while, lunches out with the guys (it's good for all of them) a bit of money coming in that manages to cover the costs of living.  And especially for each other.  How grateful I am to know that our marriage is eternal, that we are bound together for always.
