Always Thinking

And sometimes I think I'm thinking inside my head w-a-y too much.

Last minute invitation to dinner with friends meant we were riding around last night in time for me to snap this picture of a rainbow through the car window.  I love the beauty of this world.

Slept in a bit this morning, could hardly believe I slept until six, I generally just naturally wake up about five, so six felt really late.  But we abandoned any thoughts of keeping a schedule and drove over to the Jordan River for our morning walk.  As we hit the beginning of the trail I noticed this cute Dad and daughter duo heading to the river's edge, fishing pole and net in hand.  What a sweet thing, it warmed my heart.

And the workers are here.  I've dreaded this, dislike the thought of our yard being torn up.  But perhaps it won't be so bad.  Our house is at the end of the Comcast / Xfinity cable line.  Apparently someone down the road (there's only a couple houses and
one of them is a (not supposed to be in a neighborhood, someone paid someone off is my thought) business) successfully lobbied for cable to be extended to their place.  They're here to extend that line.  They promise to repair any damage.  Fingers are crossed.

Reading the scriptures this morning, came across one of my favorite words.  Steadfast.  I want to be that, and all that the meaning encompasses.

Also read an article this morning about successful people/couples.  Ones who take time every evening to express gratitude.  I'm grateful today for kind people who invite us to dinner in spite of our issues, who are patient with us and generous with their time.  I'm grateful for insurance to help with our medical issues.  We really have very few, but they seem to increase as a person ages and sometimes finding solutions isn't easy.  So, I'm also grateful for a dr. who is willing to continue to try to figure out a bit of a puzzle for The Husband.  We're off tomorrow to the dermatologist - grateful for one who c
an do the Mohs procedure to help keep The Husband's skin doing well. I'm grateful for eye drops for super dry eyes, for good things to read, for hobbies that I enjoy and for our comfortable home.

I try to always be grateful, acknowledging - as our friend said last night - that all we have comes from God, all is His creation and gift to us, it really all belongs to Him anyway. It might look like we are less affluent than those around us and I might feel somewhat inferior, but appearance of wealth (or comparison) isn't the gauge to use.  It matters what we do with what we have, how grateful we are, how generous we are in sharing,  and that we always remember the source.  I'll keep working on that.
