We have the most amazing daughters.
Today's our Golden Anniversary - 50 years of marriage. A blessing to be sure.
Back in January we booked a Danube river cruise. Our-once-in-a-lifetime trip. I've never really been out of the country for something like that. The Husband has only been to Europe for business - many years ago. Then the dangvirus hit and our cruise was postponed (at least we hope it's only postponed). As a back up we drove to Coeur d'Alene Idaho for a few days. Cut the trip short. The smoke from all the wildfires (we had no idea there were so many fires burning in WA state) was so bad we were advised to stay inside. I think I've mentioned that wasn't our idea of celebration: sitting inside a way overpriced hotel room. (We've stayed in much nicer rooms for much cheaper.) I finally decided in my mind that this just wasn't the year to celebrate.
We had planned to get some nice steaks and grill them for dinner. Then our friends spontaneously invited us to go out to dinner (with the gift card I'd received for my birthday). We had a grand time. And since we had steak last night, we decided to splurge on some salmon that we'll cook here at home. Eating out often isn't all that fun right now. Life is just so different.
So, in comes our daughter and grandson. Giving us a box. When opened we found it stuffed with cash. Meant to be spent on our anniversary cruise. I confess, I got teary.
Such generosity is overwhelming to me. We never even thought that anyone would give us a gift for our anniversary. And we aren't a wealthy family. This is very hard earned / carefully saved / heart-filled money from our girls who demonstrated extremely thoughtful love and care. I don't feel like I deserve it. But I am beyond grateful, beyond heart-warmed, beyond words to express the depth of the meaning this has for me.😂
And here's to more years of love and care from the one who means the most in life to me. So, so, so grateful.
p.s. the picture will be in the next post.
