Clever People

Answering the doorbell ring last night, this was the sight I was met with.  This cute little Christmas gift from our neighbors / ministering brother.  Sparkling apple drink with accompanying emergency supply of toilet paper.  Our neighbor said she even raided the grandkids' toy box for the ball nose.  People are so clever.

In addition they brought a pie from Marie Callendars.  She said they went in for the pie, were told it wasn't out of the oven yet, and she replied, we'll wait.  It was still warm in the middle and condensation was on the inside of the box.  It was my very favorite flavor - razzleberry - and nothing like the frozen Marie Callendar pies we get at the grocery.  The crust was thinner, more flaky and frankly more tasty.  Moaningly good. I restrained my natural impulses and only had a single regular piece.  But can hardly wait for the one piece I'm allowing myself today.  I need to share.  Maybe...maybe not.

It's been so nice to have people drop by and visit.  I've been thinking a lot about holidays and people lately.  Someone we know that lives alone was invited and included for Thanksgiving and I know she will be for Christmas as well, she's lucky that all of her 6 children live within a few miles and stay close to her.  I've wondered - if we were alone, or one of us was left alone, would anyone reach out and invite us so we didn't spend the day alone?  Or would we even care, would it matter?  Probably not.  Still, it's something I think about.  I plan to stay healthy, work on that, try for independence and bodily vigor.  Life, though, does have a way of laughing at whatever plans I make.

It's snowing out.  Visibility is diminishing.  So glad I made a quick grocery store run this morning before it began.  This will be a good day to stay inside, maybe grab a book and enjoy the luxury of a piece of yummy pie.  So grateful for generous people.
