Well, they're my favorite in comfort. Not my favorite in longevity of the soles, they seem to wear through pretty quick. Finally figured out the model I wanted - my favorite shoes in this brand have also been discontinued. Maybe I wear my shoes too long, or maybe the shoe companies just renew their shoe lines too often, but whatever. After refining my choice based on internet searches, off we headed to Scheel's.
I put on the pair of Altras that I had decided on and it was an immediate: YES!!. Didn't even have to walk around much with them on. Brought them home and enjoyed looking at the box for a couple weeks. This morning was the inaugural wearing. It was dry out (no rain or snow making any mud or wet dirt) and we had a medium length walk planned. The more I walked in those shoes, the more I liked them. They're cushioned enough to feel good, but not so much that I lose that sense of connection to the earth.
Altra is a small company - begun here in our very own state of Utah. 😊 I like supporting local businesses. I'm not quite so fond of how quickly the shoes wear out - but I find that to be the case in lots of my walking shoes. Well, I walk in them, though I generally purchase running shoes. If they're good for running, they've got to be great for walking, right?
Just the other day I received notice that this particular shoe model is now out in new colors. I think I might have to figure out a way to get another pair. It's a definite luxury to have more than one pair so I can rotate them day by day, but a luxury that really does help with the wear and my comfort.
So, today I'm grateful for my new pair of shoes. I came home from our walk more chipper than usual.
