Post Vacation

So, we've been home about 12 days and I'm finally feeling a bit less overwhelmed.  I've done laundry multiple times, got caught up on the bills, caught up on some emails, vacuumed, had a guy over to finish up (mostly, except for the screw hole plugs and the weatherstripping) the front door.  It's so much better!!

Discovered a water stain on the ceiling, prompting a call to a roof guy.  We think he tracked down the problem, had his guys out to fix it yesterday for which I'm so grateful since it has rained this entire day. (And we are grateful for every drop.) He was kind enough to recognize we needed help before the rain and hopped right on the fix. Not often that we see that happen these days.

I've been to yoga (twice - yay!!), discovered a new-to-me place I can possibly attend yoga for free (and it's a mile closer to our house), been for morning walks with The Husband, been to the dentist and came away cavity free and no work needed.  Had the oil changed / tires rotated on the Subaru and renewed its registration.

We've been down to visit our grandson for his 6th birthday, were able to go along to get his first pair of glasses.  It's sad that most of our kids have inherited our bad vision. But are so grateful for help for all of us to see better.

We've been able to get together with our favorite friends for dinner, been to two (yes, two) movies and our regular night at Hale theater.

We've had haircuts.  Been to Costco (and it definitely was a costly trip). And I've practiced, seemingly non-stop the song I'm accompanying Robert in church tomorrow. I've done a few rows of crochet on the sweater.

And I still managed to read a book or two.  In between all the "stuff".

And this next week:  mostly clear.  I'm ready for a week of less going on.  Probably by the end of the week I'll be antsy for something more to do than the regular routine.  We've still got 5 sessions of General Conference to catch up on, in addition to all the other stuff we recorded while we were gone.  And I've more books to read.

I took this picture this morning, know I've done that view before, but I love the sense of anticipation when the road takes a curve and you can't wait to walk along to see what's around the bend.  It was beautiful out this morning.

Found out that one of the three of us who play the organ for church is moving by the end of the year.  That makes me sad.  I was ok with taking 1/3 of the turns at the organ.  Not quite so sure about taking half of them.

But really, I'm so grateful to be home and comfortable and have food in the pantry and fridge, plenty of clothes to wear and warmth when it's cold and rainy outside.  I'm grateful we managed a walk in the early dawn before the rain came, it started drizzling just as we reached the car at the end of our walk.  I'm grateful for plenty of things to do and for the hope that we can continue to thrive in this life, trying our best to be decent disciples of Jesus Christ.
