Thank You. Powerful.
Please? Can possibly be even more powerful. Can turn what sounds like a demand or order into a request, respecting the recipient's right to choose (which is also powerful).
Both phrases are underused, at least that's my thought.
You are enough. This was said in yoga class the other day. Out loud, as a reminder to each member of the class. And in spite of it being said to the class in general, I was surprised at how personal it felt to me. I welcomed hearing that. And hearing it said sincerely, not like it was something someone thought I needed to hear because they thought I was down or in their judgement I needed to hear it. Just simply: you are enough. Whenever, wherever, whatever. Enough is good. Sometimes just the right amount of good.
Today I felt like I had to hustle to yoga class. They've been pretty full and I like my floor spot. (Wouldn't fight anyone over it, but I like being where I can easily see the teacher.) Ended up that there were only 6 people besides the teacher and only 2 that I recognized from the other classes I attend. About 2/3 of the way into the class, Karen just spontaneously said - with a lovely smile on her face: thank you all for coming to class today. It's just wonderful to have you six here with me. More kindness through words that reached into my hard heart.
Which reminds me of something else I hear often in class as we're flowing through some poses. And I won't even expand, I'll just put the phrase out there: "lead with your heart".
And I've noticed how often words just plain sound better when they're said with a smile, whether visible or tucked in the speaker's heart.
Today, I'll end with another great word. Mindful. I'm mindful of all that I have to be grateful for. Mindful of efforts and sacrifices and kindness. Mindful that everyone needs at least a smidgeon of hope.
