Halloween

Ok, so I just answered the door for a neighbor who is a freshman at BYU. I'm trying to be kind; having issues with an 18 year old trick or treating.

Kindness

I've been thinking so much lately about being kind and how that's an attribute I admire and want to cultivate. Why then do I have so much trouble with telephone solicitors?

random thought

I like how some people just naturally watch out for others, and make them feel cared for and cherished.

Criticism

Something I like that I read: One should never ever criticize the hostess in her own home.

Walking

A long walk in the lovely fall weather, shuffling through some leaves, listening to the birds, holding hand with The Hubby: Life certainly felt good this afternoon.

Together Day

Our Saturdays together are some of my favorite days. Today we managed to see two movies (one good and one a waste of time.) Had two of my orchids re-potted by the professionals (thanks, Cactus and Tropicals) ate a couple of fabulous crepes and made it home before the rain.

Today was pure nourishment for my soul.

Chores

Ironing doesn't seem like such a chore when there's something to watch on tv - or good music to listen to.

Leaves

Stunning afternoon - perfect for raking up leaves. (Too bad there's still an equal amount left on the trees!)

Medical Test

An ultrasound-guided biopsy of the thyroid wasn't the most fun way to start the day.

Tuesday Tidbits

Fed Ex is quickly losing my high regard: they still can't find our package.

Talking clear across the world to someone in India can be frustrating. The connection was good, the language difference causing a bit of confusion.

Haircuts and lunch out can brighten a cloudy day.

Fed Ex

I thought Fed Ex wasn't supposed to lose packages. Still trying to find ours.

Regional Conference

After listening to Pres. Monson at our conference today I'll strive for, and pray for, a "hand that helps, and a heart that knows compassion."

Mom

Yesterday I was talking to my Mom. Just out of the clear blue she said she hated me. And when I said I was sorry that she did, she said she just couldn't stand me. Five minutes later we were getting off the phone and she said she loved me, and loved that I call her to talk.

So, is it her true feelings coming out? Or is it just that she's old and a bit nutty? No one wants to think their Mother hates them. Still hurts, though.

I so want to be kind when I'm old.

Boring

I'd still like to have some "boring". Instead, today has been a day of frustrations and disappointments.

At least the sun was shining.

Cold

No fun not being able to kiss The Hubby - he's got a pretty nasty cold and I'm not getting it!

Neck

Ok, so now it's my neck I'm concerned about. I look like a turkey. Expect to break out in a "gobble, gobble" any second.

Music

A sight I hope to always remember - The Hubby sitting next to my cranky (83 year old) mother singing with / to her. A sweetly tender memory.

Receipts

So, we went into Lowe's, bought two small items and came out with a receipt 14 inches long. The actual receipt part was 4" long. The other 10 inches: ads / online survey (does anyone ever really take those?) This is becoming one of my pet peeves: receipts longer than your arm that accomplish nothing more than wasting paper. Anyone agree with me?

People

IMHO: People (absolutely including me) should accept - and perhaps even enjoy - that others are different, and that doesn't make them better, worse, more perfect or not, just different. Our differences are what make us unique - and that really is a good thing.

Sigh....

I don't like rejection.

Long Walk

It was great fun to have The Hubby along for my morning walk - even though we did walk slower than usual. Sunrise is great to share with your best friend.

Sociality

So, am I part hermit because I'm uncomfortable in social situations - or am I uncomfortable in social situations because I'm part hermit?

Ok, I Give In

The Hubby said it was cold in here. I was really trying to go a little longer without turning on the furnaces. (I really hate to pay for that heat if I don't absolutely have to.) But, My Love, anything for you.

Cafe Rio

Cafe Rio at 9:30 p.m. - even old people can be impulsive!

Conference

Listening to "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" brought goosebumps to me. I love the words of inspiration, encouragement and hope that we always hear at Conference. But somehow, it is always the music that reaches me to my soul.

Is it because I can read and re-read the words, but I only hear those notes once?

Morning

Taking my walks in the early morning to see the sun rise and light the world is just the most fabulous experience. It's hard to express how much I love the early morning. I didn't even mind that it was only 30 degrees this morning.

Computer

Yay!! This new computer is absolutely frabjous!!! (For the uninitiated, frabjous means a combination of fair, fabulous and joyous--great word, eh? from the Jabberwocky.) Thanks, My Love, for always taking such good care of me.
