Word

Heard this word today: Fooflie. Was excited to know exactly what it means.!

Bicycle Bell

Wondering this morning if I could find a bell that makes the sound of a loud cough.

gelato

If you're going to have cupcakes at a wedding reception, you might as well go for gelato after. Kinda funny that the guy serving us gelato now knows us by name. Perhaps we go for gelato a little too often? Nah......

Falling Wesson Oil

Beware shelvers continuing to shelve wesson oil on rickety leaning shelves.

Am I starting a new fashion trend: oil-spotted jeans!?!

Switches

We've lived in this house for over 9 years. Still have to stop and think which light switch powers which light.

Groceries

I learned something today:

1. I'm so grateful for The Hubby's help in bringing the bags of groceries in from the car.

2. I must be watchful where said Hubby places those bags of groceries - one got lost today.

3. Don't call the store to try to track down misplaced bags of groceries until you've looked everywhere The Hubby might have put the bag of groceries.

Age

Thinking today about some friends of ours: She is only 5 years younger than I am, barely. Her youngest daughter is 16, our oldest granddaughter is nearly 18.

That either makes me an older mother, a younger grandmother or nearly ready for that walker. Can I have one with pedals (like my bicycle), please?

(Thinking also about that word: forsake. So grateful for the knowledge that there will always be that One Being who won't ever forsake me...)

Movies

Saw two great movies today: "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "Salt". Liked them both.

Would love to have that Rolls that Nicholas Cage had in the movie. Wouldn't mind being as slender as Angelina.

Moonlight

Moonlight ride with My BFF. W-a-y fun.

When did I get to be such a night owl?

Maui

I started off counting down the days. Now I'm wondering if we'll ever get there.

Finally got the paper yesterday from our friend. (This is after the first lady refused to return our calls, our friend said he'd help us, then he got fired, but eventually said he'd get a friend - who is still employed - to get the Marriott discount for us.) Read the fine print: it expires 3 days before we are to leave. Still have those non-refundable airplane tickets.

Are we going to celebrate our 40th at home? We don't have a beach!!

Downhill

Downhill is good. Could someone please drop me and my bike off at the top so we only have to do the downhill?

Quiet

The house has a different quiet to it when we're both here. When I'm here alone, it's an emptier quiet. Like the fuller quiet better.

gelato

So, walking into our favorite gelato place, gave a sigh of relief that it wasn't the same guy on duty as last night. Wouldn't want it to get out that we went for gelato two nights in a row!!

Anniversary

38 years sealed to my very Best Friend! Thanks, My Love, for finding me.

floor

Somehow, Sunday seems more like Sunday when I've had a chance to vacuum the floor on Saturday. (Saturday is a special day, it's the day we get ready for Sunday.....)

Saturday night: Draper Days

Dinner out with some friends, fireworks at the park, temps in the 90's: it must be Draper Days in July!

Heard This

I heard this yesterday: there are always three sides to a story.

Yours
Mine
Reality

I'll keep that in mind (mine, that is.) You can keep it in yours if you like.

Repentance

I told someone today I was doing "preventive repentance". Probably much better to just behave in the first place so I don't need to do any repenting at all. Could I ever get to that point?

Daughter

Happy Birthday (33 years) to my daughter. Daughters are a fun way to end a family.

(Till the grandchilluns come along. Is there really an "end" to a family?)

Marshmallows

Marshmallows roasted on a skewer over the burner of the gas stove in the kitchen somehow lack the essence so evident (and so necessary) when roasted over a real fire.

Maui

We found out yesterday that we've lost our "in" for the hotel room for Maui. Our airline tickets are non-refundable. What to do.....

Books from the library

It's funny: I start to feel a bit insecure when I only have one or two books out from the library. Get too many and I start to feel pressure.

This weekend (nothing on tv, no wedding receptions, and didn't go to a movie) I've managed to knock out three - what a relief!!

Perhaps tomorrow I'll be off to replenish my stack!

Meals

So, The Hubby left Wed. morning (early). Wed. I ate at The Corner Bakery, Thurs. was tamale day at Cafe Rio, and today was Sweet Tomatoes (still full).

I'd give it all up in a heartbeat to have The Hubby here. But...he's on his way, flapping madly to get here as soon as he can.

cellphone

My new cellphone has a feature I haven't had before. When a call comes in I can either "accept" or "reject".

Haven't yet "rejected" anyone. Wonder if it would make them feel bad? :^)

Lunch

Treated myself to lunch (with a book) out this afternoon. Had to smile when I saw several tables occupied by cute older ladies lunching together. Here's hoping that when I'm that old I'll still have lady friends to lunch with.

Capris

I was sure my summer of wearing capris was giving my legs (below the knees) a nice tan. Instead, today I discovered freckles!

Wii Reminder

I think I can remember to brush my own teeth before bed, thank you very much.

Holiday

Jamba Juice breakfast, popcorn lunch (at the movie) and hamburger dinner. I love a well-balanced diet.

(That's why I'll never be slender!)

Words

Where did she find a new supply of words? She should have run out long before now.

Wind

So windy here that we saw birds flapping madly to just maintain position. Wondered if the wind were to suddenly die down if the birds would take a sudden nosedive? Or zoom instantly backwards? Do birds get airsick?

Doldrums

Expected today to have the hint of doldrums. Lunch at Pirate O's, errands with friends, dinner at Paradise Bakery, play at Hale (The Wedding Singer was fabulous tonight) made for a day of anything but the doldrums. Now, tomorrow.....
