New

Feel great!
It's January.  And after December's heavy spending, I'm usually loathe to spend more money in January.  (Actually I pretty much don't like spending money at any time!)  But there were a couple things.....

A few years ago I ended up with 2 (amazing luxury!!) pairs of shoes for walking.  I loved having two pairs, to alternate days.  It felt better all the way around.  One pair of shoes was older and finally, is too worn to continue wearing. So I found another pair (on sale) and now I have two good pairs again.  Tried them out first on the treadmill - they're wonderful!  January's weather is often iffy for walking.  Between the inversion that makes breathing tricky and the usual winter precipitation I never know from one morning to another whether it'll be an outdoor or a treadmill day.  Again, a luxury to have a treadmill.  And I love the new shoes.

Hoping for good sleep.
Yoga has been better since I received a mat for Christmas.  Two mats layered together make just the right surface.  I've been much less than graceful juggling the two mats going to and coming from class.  Noticed the other day a woman was carrying her mat in a bag.  You could probably almost see the lightbulb go on in my head.  Not finding what I wanted/liked online (and not wanting to spend $$) I began to wonder if I could make my own.  Seemed easy enough.  Dragged The Husband off to Joann's and came home with $11.75 dollars worth of supplies.  An investment of only half an hour provided me with this cute bag. Both mats fit just great in it and it'll be so much easier to tote back and forth.  Yay for this new thing.

Yay for yoga mat bag.
And the replacement mattress arrived.  Spent one night on it.  Slept little.  The mattress protector (which is pretty much required for the warranty, and really, it's better sleeping on one) was so slick the bottom sheet refused to stay put.  I must have put my top corner back in place 6 or 7 times.  Waking up to put the sheets in proper order doesn't make for a restful night.  So, off we went this morning to replace the protector.  It wasn't an awful hassle, but really, I just hate to return things.  Came home with a different one that I hope will be an improvement, but suspect it won't be really.  Don't know what we'll do then.  I actually think the pocket in the fitted sheet isn't deep enough.  Sigh.

After the storm the other day.
Received our cable/internet bill today. 20% higher.  No warning, no explanation.  Just an additional 20% more they want.  Decided to stop in at their office.  After greeting and checking us in we were told it'd be about a 20 minute wait.  40 minutes later, I finally went and asked how much longer only to hear that, "oh, oops, (my bad) we must have skipped you." We'll get you right in with the next available person.  Nope, we left. Now there's another thing added to The Husband's list of tasks to accomplish.  He's so much better at that kind of thing than I am, I get too emotional when beating my head against the wall.

And I loved this quote: "As members of the Church, we have to be careful not to judge one another and to suspend any previously held assumptions that might cripple our ability to accept one another on any level."  Kristen Oaks Great Thoughts

I'm grateful tonight for new shoes, new yoga bag and new mattress (I think our backs will be happier).  I'm grateful for enough cash to have a meal out (the one thing that went right today).  I'm grateful for a lovely walk outside in the breeze and for the warmth of a good coat.  Also that the music she chose for tomorrow in Sacrament meeting isn't too challenging for this very, very last minute substitute organist.  I'm grateful that we can visit a dear friend tomorrow.  And that there's a bit of ice cream in the freezer!
