Almost the Weekend, Again

Sunrise across the valley.
We woke up yesterday morning to:  snow!!  Yes, it was May 1.  And snow.  One thing to love about this was that I was completely alone on the trail.  Until I saw The Husband strolling out to meet me.  Best part of the day.

I love when the sun rises and hits the peaks of the mountains w-a-y across the valley while the valley floor is still in shadow, not yet being woken by the sun.

Those two pretty trees.  :^]
We've been fairly smart the last couple nights - have been putting the not-yet-planted annuals in the shop for protection from the hard freezes.  Then pulling them out again for the sunshine during the day.  Still aren't quite sure if the cucumbers are going to make it, but they're just one little $2 plant that we can easily replace.  We closely inspected the garden bed yesterday afternoon and yup! We spied a couple barely sprouting pea plants.  Yay for us!!

Yoga was really great this morning.  I enjoyed the flow of poses that our instructor was calling out.  She had some lovely music playing and I really think the woman on the mat next to me fell completely asleep during shavasana.  It was a good class.  I'm getting the hang of things a bit better each time I go and feel like I can master some of the poses better.

No scent on these frozen lilacs.
Got the receptionist at the eye dr.'s on the phone this morning. I have truly struggled with these eye drops for my IOP (intraocular pressure).  I thought I could just plow forward through the problems, but finally decided I wasn't go to spend that much money to be so completely miserable.  The Husband is convinced my neck pain is a side effect - as well as all the other problems that just make me tense and ready to cry at a second's notice.  I'm waiting for word from the pharmacy that a different option is ready for me to pick up.  I surely hope it helps.  I've been a tad frustrated/annoyed/irritated/discouraged.

And I loved this article this morning.  I totally agree with his assessment of how we need to promote civility and kindness and eliminate contempt and hatefulness. I often agree with what he writes.

Work together / square our shoulders

I'm looking forward to BYU Women's Conference tomorrow.  I don't often go away (I guess 28 miles is considered going away) and it sort of fills me with nervousness.  But we'll leave early, we'll get a good parking spot, breakfast with my cousin and find a good spot in the Marriott Center.  We'll arrive home at dinnertime (I'll be prepared with leftovers) with lots of tales to tell of words we heard that lifted our hearts.  It'll be a good thing.

So today I'm grateful for the luxury of being able to go to Women's Conference.  For a movie to watch (from the library) over the weekend, for lots of good things to read, for hope that the new eye drops will not cause me such grief, and for the milkshake to look forward to (I won the bet!).
