Another New Week

General Conference over the weekend was wonderful.  It seems extraordinarily fortunate that we are in a situation where we can sit in the comfort of our own home and watch all five of the sessions.  Which we did.  Which I loved.  Although I will say that I spent the entire 10 hours listening to the talks and wondering which ones I'll be teaching (until I'm released) in R.S. over the next six months.  And what approach I would take.  It's a heavy responsibility to me to be responsible for the sisters' time during that last hour of church.

Last week was a bit busy.  But we accomplished a lot.  Among other things, we had a play at Hale which we really liked.  (Excepting The Husband and I are both huge fans of "the happy ending" and this play didn't really have one.) I had my car serviced and the tag on the license plate renewed.  We managed to fit in a movie, got caught up on the laundry, got together with our friends before they go to England for a couple weeks and delivered a birthday gift to our daughter-in-law. (It's so hard to know what to get for someone who really has everything.  And while I work hard at trying to find something that will please, I also work hard at letting go of the gift (and any expectations as to its use/enjoyment) when I give it.  I'm certain that sometimes gifts I give go straight to donation.  I want to be ok with that.)   We've had some pictures of our new (and only so far) great-grandson. I also managed my walks and yoga and we accomplished errands - including a Costco run that cost us w-a-y more than I intended.  Yikes!!

I've been told that often, the articles that I include links to go unread.  People don't have time.  People aren't interested.  That may be true.  But I'm just going to keep including links to articles that I find of value.  Like these two:

Letting Others Choose

Shoe Funerals

I enjoyed them both for different reasons.  I'm grateful someone else feels the way I do about getting out in running shoes and what it does for us.  And the first article was a good reminder that we cannot force others to be careful or kind or anything.  Like we heard yesterday (and I'm paraphrasing):we can't make someone repent, but we can forgive them.  Even if they don't appear to want or need forgiveness, forgiveness isn't for them, it's for us.

I really like this quote:

“The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”

― Albert Einstein

Fall Colors!
And speaking of libraries, these bushes over by ours?  Last week they were green.  (Can't believe I didn't notice the trash on the ground and remove it before taking the picture.) This morning it's fall, as expected since it's been in the 30's overnight.

I'm so grateful for my membership in our church.  I love that it encourages us to be our best selves, to seek the best in others and to try to be disciples of the Savior.  I'm so grateful for those who act like I matter.  I'm grateful to be feeling pretty good for 68 years old and hope for more good days than days where I feel less well. I'm grateful for sunshine, for generosity and for hope.
