Life Can Be Strange

• So, last week we received a text - our Area Seventy wanted to come visit with us here at home.  I was definitely concerned about why.  I have had zero personal interaction with an Area Seventy in my entire life.  And am not really aware of anyone who has.

The appointed time finally arrived, the doorbell rang and there he was.  (We have children older than he is!)

He was very kind.  And focused and a true listener.  Those are rare.  And I am always so impressed when people are good listeners.  I want to be like that - I often fail.  But was newly aware of how important it is to be a good listener.

Fudgey yumminess!!!
The upshot is The Husband and I have a new church calling - one we can do together.  It'll be busy, I think and of course, we haven't yet a clear idea of precisely what our service will entail.  But it's something neither of us has ever done before and it will be fun to work with The Husband once again.  Senior Service Mission Group Coordinator.  Didn't even know such a thing existed.  I hope the training is detailed.  I suspect we'll need it.

• Sunday received a text from our daughter who was on her way to church - our neighbors tree was adorned with an American Bald Eagle.  A rarity around here.  Fabulous!!

• And we were actually included: our grandson was being ordained a deacon.  How fun to be able to be there with them.  And it actually wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as I had expected.  Hope is a constant in my heart for improvement.  Was concerned to hear our granddaughter was dropped on her head during a cheer competition the day before.  She has a concussion.  That's pretty scary.

• I wanted to give our friend something I made especially for her for her birthday.  So Sunday afternoon I made some fudge.  So grateful for my food thermometer.  I actually think this batch is the best one I've made so far.  She seemed to like it.  I also took some to one of the sisters / friends around the corner and she said it was great.  There's one piece left.  I hope to share it with the Husband unless my greed (and chocolate zeal) takes over and I scarf it down before that.

• We were off to the eye doctor's today.  The Husband for his annual exam and me for a follow-up on my eye pressure after the cataract / stent surgery.  I'm still doing well, no indications for more drops.  It felt good to have a "well-done" from the dr., even though the pressure isn't something I think I have any control over. I'll keep working on keeping my blood pressure under control - which of course if beneficial for my body all the way around.  I'm convinced Yoga is also helpful.  Was so excited this morning when I looked at the clock and found we were 45minutes into the hour-long class.  That means I was completely engrossed in the practice, I like that I'm getting into it more and more.  Though today's class was pretty hard, I couldn't actually complete some of the poses the way I should have.  My knees just don't let me.  Found out our teacher goes from our class to a different location to teach other seniors - she teaches two classes in a row on Thursdays.

•And I had to chuckle at the receptionist at the center this morning on my way into class.  I asked her how she was.  She is one of those chipper personalities that always has a smile on her face.  She said she was great - she likes to affectionally refer to Thursday as Friday-Eve.  Yup, I like it.

Now, I'm home for the rest of the day, comfortably clad in stretchy pants - my favorite stay-at-home attire.  The laundry is nearly done, I've some instructions on which songs to practice for my Sunday choir pianist subbing, good books to read, a crochet project to work on and some time to just...be.  For this particular moment, life feels just fine.
