And Mother's Day has long been one of my least favorite days. Try as I might to keep my expectations non-existent, I think there's always some tiny flame of hope in my heart that's impossible to extinguish - though that's not for lack of trying. The Husband and my daughters always - without fail - do their best to help me feel loved. And this year was no exception. They are always so thoughtful, buying me things that they
know I enjoy. (I'm pretty obvious about the things that make me happy.)

The Husband "surprised" (not really, I helped pick them out and was present when he ordered them online) me with some big hoop earrings. I've been feeling daring (for me) and wanted something larger. Discovered just the right size and after searching (online searches can surely be a black -hole for your time) found just the right ones. They're fun, I'll love wearing them.
I received bags of my favorite candies (I'll be sure to make savor them - make them last) and the prettiest laser cut card. The things that carry the message: you count, we notice what you like, we pay attention to you, we truly care - that's the most important message.

The Husband treated me to a helium balloon - we've historically almost never spent money on balloons. This one was fun to have. But somehow, it got loose from its mooring and drifted up to the ceiling fan. Hearing an odd noise, I looked and saw the string tangled inside the fan, getting more and more wound up. We had to borrow a taller step ladder. Lucky that the neighbor had one.
And we've some clean windows. We didn't have the windows washed last year - there was too much going on, etc., etc. So, we didn't. And it shows. It really only seems to take one storm after the washing and the windows look smeary and dirty. But Saturday The Husband took some time and cleaned the insides of the ones we look out the most. Even though the outsides are still not their best, the view is much clearer.

| Uh, Oh. |
Just had a visit from some friends. Their son was in our Young Single Adult class the last time we taught it. He's been home from his mission long enough to graduate from college and find a career job. Until the coronavirus hit. He's been furloughed from his position in a neighboring state. But came home to visit his Mom for Mother's day. It was such a true delight to see him!! And of course, his Mom and sister. I try to keep in touch with him via email, but whenever he's in town it's always such a pleasure to see his smile. He's a fine young man.
We've actually got a couple things on the calendar for this week. We managed to get a haircut on Friday. Between the cleaner windows, some of the household things accomplished, Mother's Day over and done with, a decent book to read (found some downstairs on the bookshelf I'd forgotten about, should go downstairs more often) and some meat in the freezer, I should be in a better mood. Maybe it'll come. 😐
