Taking a Breath

It feels like the week was busy.  We dropped a birthday gift off for our son, he seemed appreciative which is always nice, though we might have been there a total of 15 minutes (50 minute round trip driving time for a short visit.  Must mean that we love our son - parents do). We had a couple physical therapy appointments (2 for me, one for The Husband). A kindergarden graduation (those littles are so cute and ready to take on the world) which meant a visit with our son that we don't get to see near often enough.  Which meant a couple hugs, some decent conversation and we came away with fresh cherries.  I had about decided there'd be no cherries for us this year, they've been too pricy.  They are just yummy.

Our hawthorne
The garden plants have so far weathered the cold nights - 31 degrees at 5:30 this morning.  (Yes, it's Saturday and yes, I could sleep in later.  But somehow I just always wake up early.) The tri-color beech is looking a bit better but still not quite as lovely as in the past.  We'll work on that, it's such a beautiful tree.  The hawthorne tree is in full bloom and just fun!  And take a gander at that picture of our norway spruce.  The cones are purple.  Yes, truly purple.  That tree has been in that spot for 21 years and I've never noticed any purple cones on it before.  The tiny pink ones a lot, and the bigger ones are generally brown.  But the purple was a fun surprise. Hope that means the tree is happy.

We ended up at Wildside bowls (yay for gift cards) for dinner one night.  Quite a departure from our usual dinner fare, though it's hard to find any guilt for healthy eats. I swear food tastes doubly good when we use gift cards.

This morning's walk was along the Jordan River again.  Saw the sheep and wished I could understand what his grunts meant.  He kept shoving his head against the fence but when I'd reach out a finger to rub against it he'd pull away.  He and his yard-mate sheep are totally tame, come when called. Saw the most gorgeous yellow bird, think it was some kind of goldfinch - but it was totally bright and so pretty. And the geese are opportunists.  That little pond was created by the yard across the trail being drained (they're putting in a pool or building or something and the water table there is high).  They have claimed that little bit of water as their own, and it felt to me like they were enjoying it.

Opportunist geese.

My wrist is coming along.  Went into PT the other day kind of discouraged.  But Seth was kind.  Suggested another round of K tape but only one small and one long.  I kept it on as long as I could stand.  Then noticed when I took it off I had some marks on my arm mirroring the weave of the tape.   I don't think my skin really likes the tape so I'm glad to see I've pretty well healed. But:  stopped at the grocery yesterday, opened the cooler, grabbed a gallon of milk, plopped it in the cart and realized I'd done it without that excruciating pain I've had. Again, yay!

This next week we've a movie to look forward to, dinner with our friends and hopefully some time with a book or two.  The last couple books I've returned to the library without finishing them.  I'm weary of foul language and not in the mood for books about viruses (and viruses as weapons).  Ready for something uplifting.  And also ready for some ice cream.

I loved this article.  It was uplifting.  Elder Gong  We need more uplifting.  At least I do.  :^)
