Too Many Pictures

Ow.
What a luxury to have a camera in my pocket wherever I go.  I just love taking pictures of things I want to remember, since my mind is like a steel sieve these days.  I've had to download (thanks to The Husband) most of my pictures from my phone since it was "full".

Grated the tip of my finger (along with the cheese) the other day.  Didn't even bleed it was so surface but boy does it sting.  I hope to heal quickly, that finger is in most everything I do.

We've walked pretty much every day (in between storms) and there's always something new to see.  New for sale signs in front of houses that disappear fairly quick.  And this time of year there's always something new blooming.  Some of the things that are blooming around our house are things that we planted, that didn't work very well (every time we plant something we have to view it as an experiment) but I refused to give up on and then they decide to be happy and grant us with blooms or fresh growth and we're always delightedly surprised.  Case in point:  the columbine which didn't really bloom last year at all - that single plant is what's left of three we planted there. The peonies have been divided several times.  They are the result of a single plant survivor of the 9 we originally planted.   Our tri-color beech has gradually grown more vibrant in color and we love it.  The picture doesn't do it justice - I think the sun film on that big window kind of dims the color.

Columbine
Woke up this morning to 33 degrees.  And, well, neither one of us has been out to the garden to see how the tomatoes fared.  (I think the melons and cucumbers are a total loss.) We noticed lots of covered plants on our walk, but we didn't go to the effort this time - no more plastic to cover them.  It's June - well tomorrow it's June - for heaven's sake. Didn't remotely expect it to be so cold.  And no, the furnaces are not on.  I'm bundled up in warm socks and a sweatshirt.

Across the valley
Our holiday celebration yesterday was to head up to Wildside Bowls for lunch.  Even the small ones are too large for us really, I was still full at dinner time.  It's hard to feel guilty about eating something that is nothing but healthy ingredients.  We've never really had any extended family around to celebrate holidays (and holidays are definitely different when there's no longer an employer so it isn't a day off work)  with so we've kind of learned to lower our expectations and find our own bits of fun and joy.  We really need something to look forward to. :^)

Saturday was our mail deliverer's last day.  The Husband gave her a couple treats as a farewell.  I'm waiting to see if he makes friends with the new one.  What am I thinking?  Of course he will.

Still pretty
This is a bit of a calmer week for us.  I "graduated" from physical therapy last week mostly because I told Seth I was done.  Don't relish spending $20 per visit for exercises I can basically do on my own at home.  I'm thinking the wrist tendonitis will likely be a chronic thing I have to learn to deal with.  Warming up my hands / wrists before practicing the piano will be a new thing for me. Anyway, since I'm taking a couple weeks off yoga (the wrist) and no more P.T. it frees up a lot of time.  Maybe I'll pick up some stitching again.  Still can't manage to crochet and I've several projects in the works.  But I'll get there.

So grateful today for the rain we've had.  Which, as usual, is followed by the sunshine.  Yay for warmth.

And I just came across this article - so loved what she had to say.
