So the snowblower was supposed to come on Wednesday. We thought it would be early. The delivery window kept getting pushed forward. We basically spent the day mentally twiddling our thumbs. I'm not so great at that waiting thing.
| Waiting for more snow |
Thursday morning The Husband was out bright and early, we'd had enough snow that he thought it would be a good trial run. Took a while to figure out a few necessaries - where to put the key in, and check to see it had oil, fill the gas tank, check the choke. But it fired right up (electric start - a luxury) and he was off. But a problem: one of the wheels doesn't have the right "thing" attached to it, so it doesn't roll properly (I'm not really sure, but might have something to do with the self-propel feature). Pictures and email were sent and the company is sending the part out. But, I think The Husband will be happy with it. Sometimes our snowfall is wet and heavy and the snowblower will do just fine with that.
Our daughter's friend/coworker gave her a lovely Christmas cactus. Don't know when I've ever seen such a pretty one. She's gracious enough to keep it on our shelf with the other plants - I love blooming plants, especially in the house.
And The Husband came in (he was out making sure the snow was removed from the solar panels) and said, come, look. What snow was left (it fell after the plowing) had deer tracks! So fun to see. We don't often have them in our yard and I love knowing that wild creature found our yard even slightly appealing. (It's winter, there's nothing for the deer to eat so they are welcome to wander around our yard.)
Woke up to 9 degrees this morning. I had intended to go for a walk, I can only handle so many days in a row on the treadmill. But with the temps so cold and so much snow and ice on the ground and it being so dark at 6 a.m. I opted to stay in bed a little longer. Perhaps this afternoon it'll be a bit warmer and easier to spot the slick spots and I'll manage to get out for a bit. Pretty much a lifetime of walking most every day has made it a requirement for my mind/head as well as my body. And walking doesn't bother my arm. I'm going to try to tough it out for the weekend, see if it doesn't start feeling a bit better with a bit of babying (no yoga for me for a bit...sigh) and then probably call the dr. If I can get in to see him.So grateful today for working furnaces to keep us warm and a so far decent roof to keep us dry. Grateful, also for my ancient wool sweater that keeps me comfortable.
