Feet

Received the usual monthly health insurance summary.  This one included the podiatrist and the dang boot.  $425 for something I could probably get on Amazon for less than half that.  And the insurance denied the coverage.  I'm going to wait and hope the podiatrist office will fight with the insurance company themselves.  Told The Husband I wasn't going back to any doctor for any reason.  (Hah, yeah, good luck with that one.)

So sad they're kaput.
My feet are such a problem.  I've had trouble with them my whole life.  I think this silly torn ligament issue I've been dealing with is just going to be chronic.  After the boot and taping I felt pretty good, got the sign-off from the dr.  Then we went on a long walk, and I was almost right back to previous pain.  😔 I limp a fair amount of time.  We are still doing our morning walks but going slower and shorter distances.  Was asked at the Bishop's Storehouse on Saturday how I'm doing there with my foot.  I try to downplay it, but frankly, it isn't easy.

After our storehouse hours on Saturday we stopped at a place that sells clogs.  (I've absolutely loved my Sanitas, but there seems to be nowhere local to get them, and trying them on is a must before spending the $$$. Danskos are a wonderful replacement.) The lady there was extraordinarily helpful, cheerful and kind.  Found some I loved, but they felt just a tad snug.  Found another pair I loved a little bit less but are probably more practical.  They said they'd transfer the right size and color shoe from their other store.

The first picture here is my old pair.  We discovered the complete hole in the side of the sole on Saturday.  Made me glad I was already on the hunt for a new pair - those are unwearable. The second picture is the practical ones I just barely picked up.  They're not easy to get on my foot, but pretty decent once they're on there. Not as cute as the ones I loved.  But at the price they are, I feel very blessed and fortunate to be able to get one pair.  I hope they last a long time and my feet do well with them when I'm walking around the storehouse for hours.

Though there was a point on Saturday I wasn't sure I'd ever go back.  Isn't it interesting how one single person can change the whole atmosphere.  I hope I'm never caught deliberately turning my back on someone speaking to me.  Just to make a statement.  I'm glad that particular occurrence wasn't one I was involved in.

Love the new Danskos
Yesterday's church was really good.  This ward is a challenge but I know being there is where Heavenly Father wants me to be. I didn't mess on up on the organ.  And now I have a week off before I have to play again.  It was small yesterday, only about 50-60% of our ward in attendance.  Sometimes fewer is better.

This morning was productive.  After our walk, breakfast, shower and hair done, we launched into the tasks.  Down came the Christmas tree and we managed to find a place for it in the garage.  Simply cannot take it down and up the stair to the basement anymore - too heavy, bulky and cumbersome (and this tree is a smaller one).  Everything else Christmas related was boxed and stored, the laundry nearly done, the entire floor vacuumed, and all before I had to fix lunch.  I'm knackered.

I'm so grateful for a new pair of shoes.  I'm grateful for insurance and hope they pay for the dang boot.  (I'm a bit weary of spending on these old feet.😑) I'm grateful that the house feels tidy again and grateful that now I have a bit of time to put these old feet up and relax for a little while.
