Finally, A Different Saturday

Through the windshield.
We both wanted a walk.  We wanted to walk somewhere different.  We also needed a bit of a micro-getaway.  So, out came the map.  And off we went.  Drove 1 1/2 hours, just over the Utah border into Wyoming.  Found a little walk along the Bear River.  Nowhere to eat there (it's just a little tiny town that apparently exists mostly because of the confluence of the river and the railroad) so we hit the local WalMart (sometimes I'm really grateful for the ubiquitousness of WalMart stores) for the restroom and a small snack - spent all of $3 - and headed home again.

Stopped on our way at R&R BBQ - one of our favorites, and we can share a meal and sometimes (depending on the size and length of time since the previous snack) even have leftovers for later.  It was a good little drive, though a long way to go for a little walk.   The Husband asked me what was the best part and I had to truthfully say:  arriving home.  Though that truth was tempered by the tongue in my cheek.  It really was lovely to go for a bit of a road trip and that was just the right length.  I only wish the roads had been clear of every other driver.  They are truly scary!!

I should have cropped the one I took through the windshield, no fun looking at the top of the wiper blade.  The ducks were so cute next to the pond.  And I had to take a picture of the dandelion - I've never seen such huge ones.  That rock wall was so massive - and again, just snapped the picture as we were zipping along in the car.  Turned out w-a-y better than I expected.

So grateful today that we could just gas up the car and go for a drive.  Grateful for a covered picnic table (lovelovelove the shade) where we could sit and eat our WalMart cookies. Grateful for a comfy car and so grateful we managed to make it back in one piece - notwithstanding the idiot who came over into our lane barely a foot in front of us at 70 mph.  I think he never did see us.  He shoulda looked.
