I'm still (and likely ever will be) a fan of my morning walks. I doubt I'll ever voluntarily give them up. It's been such a delight to have The Husband with me. The other day we walked past another grape-covered fence. I love to see the grapes growing. And this old guy was out tending his stunning garden. I wish I'd taken a picture. I haven't ever seen eggplant growing before, they're such a pretty plant.

| Love the grapes. |
This morning's walk included sightings of 7 (a record number for us) deer. We've been seeing more of them when we're out. Not sure if it's because we're out earlier than usual, because we're on less busy streets or just because they're more active. I just love seeing them.

| Happy Birthday! |
But this yard isn't far from our house. We've seen the man that lives there out often in the mornings. Sometimes he's sitting on the porch, once in a while even has what looks like a son sitting in the fresh morning air with him. A couple times he's been weeding in the yard. I always figured he was around 78-80 years old. He seems pretty spry and "with it". This morning we met him on the road a bit down from his house. "Is it your birthday?" The Husband asked. Yesterday he said. He turned 90. He told us a bit about his birthday, I guess they'd hoped to have a big party, but only had family over because of this dangvirus. (And that's no typo - that's how I always think of the COVID-19: one word - dangvirus.) But he chatted on the phone with friends and texted with those he didn't talk to. After I mentioned that I was impressed with his technology capability (I'm such a lousy texter) he laughingly said that he was sure that's why we had thumbs - for our phones! What a funny character. He told us that his great grandfather, his grandfather and his father all three died at 59 years so he was really happy to have made it to 90. Happy Birthday, neighbor!
I've been deep in a book that I'm enjoying (in spite of the negative reviews) but it's a tense read. I'll spend some time this afternoon completing the last 40+ pages. Then on to something else, something calmer for my soul. How grateful I am for books to read, for good things to enrich me.
