Lunch

Today's lunch was almost completely from our garden. The peaches were a gift from a friend, and so very welcome. In addition to the tomatoes, cucumbers and corn, today's harvest included a cantaloupe, some strawberries,  and the last of the carrots.  Now, we aren't always 100% pleased with the quality of the produce we get.  (That's that "experiment" part of the garden we undergo every year.) But there's something extraordinarily satisfying about growing your own food.  You know where it comes from, how it's been treated (like we are basically organic, no pesticides, though we do use a fertilizer produced just for the Mittleider Grow Box gardens for the micronutrients) and how long it's been since it has been picked.

We've shared around more of the corn (the stalks are done and in the trash now) and tomatoes.  The giant pumpkin was a massive (hahaha) failure, it got only a smallish size and then basically just sat and did nothing.  It's currently decorating the base of the Blue Atlas Cedar in the front yard, The Husband plunked it down there and is waiting for me to tell him I noticed it there.  Which I did within a couple minutes. I love being able to share the produce that The Husband has worked so hard to grow.

So grateful for our garden.
