September

After August, which is my least liked month of the year (all that heat) comes September which is often my favored month of the year:  I always liked school starting, the end of the worst of the heat, the turning of some of the fall colors, not to mention that one day of the year when I felt at least a little recognized and valued.

Cantaloupe from the garden
So far September has been kind of busy.  It seems like the day turns into evening and I wonder where the hours went and what I did.  I've so loved that The Husband goes with me on my morning walks.  The other morning we did a different section of the Dimple Dell trail.  Rather than following the upper rim, we descended into the ravine.  Quiet (we only saw two other people) enough that we almost heard the deer bound across the trail followed by a funny little rabbit.  The return path found the sun shining (even in the ravine) on the trees. Sunrise will forever be my favorite time of day.
Loved these flowers

We've harvest more tomatoes than we know what to do with.  We give about 90% of them away and still can't eat them fast enough.  The little orange cherry sunburst ones basically need to be eaten fresh, there's no way that I know of to preserve them.  We've had some really flavorful cantaloupe, with probably 8 or nine more on the vines that may or may not ripen before the frost.  Maybe next year the garden will be smaller.  But we surely have enjoyed the produce we've had this year.

I've been fortunate enough to be treated to a meal out every single day so far this week, and today will continue the trend.  One of my neighbor friends is taking me to lunch.  Which feels strange because I'm so anti-social. But it'll be nice.

Sunrise from the ravine.
I received a small compensation for playing at the funeral a couple weeks ago and that money (along with a couple gift cards I received) is burning a hole in my pocket.  Also kind of strange because I've always been more of a saver rather than a spender.  I think my attitude that way is changing.  I'm looking forward to something new to wear and some new shoes for walking.  I figure I better buy some more of those before they discontinue that particular model the way it has happened for me in the past.

It's a great year for sunflowers.
I've written and deleted a bunch.  I think I'll head over to Penzu and write there.

I'm grateful for people who were kind and generous to me on my birthday.  Who recognized me and helped me feel like I'm valued without a ton of uncomfortable fuss. My favorite nachos at Costa Vida and a cone from Chick-Fil-A were the perfect birthday meal. Today it'll be Zupas, yesterday was Five Guys and Tuesday was R&R BBQ.  A lot of good variety that I didn't have to fix which is the best part of it all.
