Mist and Flowers

Woke up Saturday morning to overnight rain (YAY!!) and headed out for a walk in faint through-the-clouds sunrise.  It was so beautiful.  This large pasture we walk past always feels so calming and idyllic to me with the cows, horsies and geese.  It looked especially lovely in through the low mist (probably actually really a ground-hugging cloud).  I feel so much better when I've had my morning walk.
Pretty morning.

Later on we worked in the front yard.  I put the yellow mums on notice:  they either grow and bloom with abundance and beauty next fall or they're history.  We cut them down to the ground and spread the pine-needle-mulch over the top.  We'll see if they're at all obedient.  We optimized our time out there and pruned / tied up the climbing roses.  I love when things look all tidy and neat.  And found a couple blooming roses on the regular bushes - in November!  They are lovely on our table.

Tried to have some soup and salad at Olive Garden.  Middle of the afternoon and there was a 30-35 minute wait.  Why?  Because the kitchen is so busy with the online/take-out orders, the people physically sitting in the restaurant are the "afterthought".  GGrrr. Makes me upset. It'll be a long time before we go back there.  I believe that's just plain wrong.

So I'm grateful we still had some money on our Chick-Fil-A card.  We treated ourselves (that pity-party-eating thing) to the seasonal peppermint chip shake.  My first (and likely last considering our early January physicals) of the season.  I savored every single taste.
