All Finished

Tuesday afternoon all the shingling was finished and a bit of the wrap-up.  The "shop" was shingled in the rain.  We felt so bad that they were out working in the rain - in fact I was concerned that the shingles were going on over wet foundation.  But I have to trust that they know best.  In any event, all that stuff was done.  And it poured rain all night Tuesday night and into the early afternoon yesterday.  The crew showed up and worked for a couple hours cleaning up.  They've cleared broken branches from the yard, re-installed the solar lights in the stairwell and tidied up a lot even blew off the driveway.

Today it's peaceful and calm.  I was a tad unnerved (for an entire week) by all the commotion, all the people here and - obviously - the noise.

Tomorrow the solar panels go back up, we'll walk around for the final inspection with the roofing contractor, write the check for the final and be done.  I even communicated with our homeowner's insurance agent and we'll be getting a bit of a discount for a new roof.  That's always welcome.

Whew! and Yay!

This morning we met our tax lady, she was on her way to an appointment (from Lindon to Holladay), in a parking lot where we signed our taxes ready for her to transmit electronically.  No money going out this year.  That's a really good thing.  The reason there's no money going out is because our (small) investments tanked and we lost a good percentage of our funds.  That's a really bad thing.  Lost funds mean much less taxes. A huge relief to me to not have to pay anything, I really sweat that every year.

Lots of thought swirling through my head, can't find the words to use for imparting them here, so I'll just say I'm grateful the roof is done.  Grateful the taxes are done and we don't have to pay.  Grateful for a package of Trader Joe's Chocolatey Cats Cookies.  (They're almost like an Oreo without the filling.  Which is good for me, I love the Oreo cookie but really, really, really dislike the filling.)  Grateful for a bit of sunshine between storms and grateful I don't have to go anywhere I don't want the rest of the day.
