Seeds

Our public library has a seed library.  They've done this for several years.  The mission:  they "check out" seeds to whoever wants (free of charge and you don't really check them out, you just take them, you're allowed up to three packets of seeds per person per day), seeds are planted and veggies, herbs or flowers grow and thrive and produce and are lovely.  At the end of the season the gardener harvests the seeds, and returns them to the library to be used the next year.

It's really a fun project they do in the name of community outreach - at least that's what I'm calling it.  We picked up some seeds I think it was last year?  Maybe the year before?  Anyway, we weren't even remotely successful with them.  We harvested no seeds from the plants that didn't really grow.  So we were a failure, didn't return anything back to the library, not even pictures.

But, those seeds produce a sort of hope in the hearts of all would-be city-garden-farmers.  I love it.  We picked up some seeds today.  I think our daughter has some more seeds for us.  And when we get back to the library again, we just might pick up some more.  We haven't ever attempted brussels sprouts before.  Apparently they require a lot of room.  And lots of sun and heat.  We'll see how that works out.

I'm a natural pessimist.  But somehow, the thoughts of the fresh produce that The Husband coaxes out of our growboxes sparks some small measure of optimism in me.  😊

Last night was Titanic, The Musical at Hale theater.  They do an exceptional job there - it really is Broadway quality theater.  But, that super sad occurrence isn't my idea of a fun night out.  I guess I'm not the target audience - making a musical production out of such a tragic thing doesn't really do it for me.  It was fun to get out with The Husband.  (Our circle is small, and we have little interaction throughout the week with anyone other than the once-in-awhile trip to the store where an actual person checks us out at the register. Now that the theater is in Sandy and quite close, we don't even go out to eat before the play anymore, making our interactions with other people even fewer.)  We don't do that often enough, so it was nice to get out but am looking forward to our next play for a bit more enjoyment.

Today I'm grateful for a few seeds that we'll experiment with in our garden that are something we ordinarily wouldn't try.  Nice to be able to try something without feeling a ton of guilt over the cost. Grateful we seem to have all of our paperwork ready to take to our tax lady for our 2022 taxes.  (Crossing fingers that we won't owe a ton of money this year.  Last year was a bit that we didn't expect and didn't enjoy paying. )  And grateful for projects to work on that are enjoyable.
