Sure Feels Like Monday

A visit to the periodontist first thing Monday morning was not a good way to start the week. Even though it was good news, it still hurts.

Family Home Evening playing Wii with the grandchild was very fun.

Weekend

Yesterday we saw "The Proposal". Sort of a fun movie - the Hubby laughed quite a bit. Too sad that the language wasn't so great. I had objections to a couple other things as well. Sigh...

Went for a ride in a friend's new car. I'm so pleased for her - it's a great car and I think she'll really like it.

Great day for eating shrimp skewers out on the patio - not too hot or too windy. Just right.

Beautiful evening for a bike ride.

Good

Getting a really good haircut is a good thing.

Mike having time to mow the lawn after work is a good thing.

Riding my bike to the library is a good thing (forgetting my bike lock, not such a good thing.)

Enjoying a summer day that isn't broiling hot, but nice enough to read out on the patio is a good thing.

Sad

It was kind of sad to see the Buick get towed away. It was a pretty good car for awhile.

It was also sad for me to have it be nearly 90 degrees by ten a.m.

But I loved Hale Theatre's "Hello Dolly"! Super talented cast, and loved the music.

It Feels Good...

To get the car serviced and not have it take all day. I think I was at the dealership for 50 minutes, tops.

To find something fun to spend gift cards on.

To ride my bike.

To get the house air conditioning on.

The Day Started Like A Monday....

First off, the Buick died. I mean really died. (It will cost mucho $$ to repair, so we won't resurrect it.)

Had to run our daughter to work - which I defiantly did in my robe, no makeup, hair not done.

Someone is using our address for their mail. Weird. And why?

Bugs are back on the honey locusts.

But - at least the sun is shining and the congestion in my head has abated.

Father's Day

With the big celebration yesterday I didn't have anything for Mike to open today - I didn't even get him a separate Father's Day card. But it was surely heaven to sit on the back patio and visit for an hour this afternoon, and then to have the rest of the day to ourselves; no meetings, or commitments or obligations. Just time together. Again, my idea of heaven.

Happy Father's Day, My Love. Don't ever leave without me.

Birthdays, Again

Our back yard has a "mohawk". Mike almost got it mowed before it was raining too hard to continue.

But...all the yard and housework was worth it: I thoroughly enjoyed having everyone over for a joint birthday party. I surely hope everyone else had fun, too.

I loved how the youngest granddaughter here sat next to me and sang while I played the piano. I think she was loving it, and I know I certainly was.

All the hugs today warmed my heart - something I can never get enough of.

Roses are so one of my favorite flowers.

Shopping

The shops I managed to get to in the Quilt Shop Hop this year didn't seem to have that feeling of excitement I've felt in years past. I wonder if it isn't just a bit too many days this year.

Might have been a bit more fun with someone else along.

Costco was a madhouse. What recession?

We need a replacement for the Buick. Where is our Car Angel?

My Hubby gives the greatest hugs!

Birthday

Hey My Love: Happy Birthday - I hope I was able to help you feel somewhat special today - and important and Loved.

It's nice to have friends stop by to wish him Happy Birthday. They're good people.

Hoping to find a solution to the Buick's woes and soon.

Frustrations Abound

Another frustrating day with the Buick - they can't seem to find the difficulty.

It's nice to have a R. S. President who is concerned about all the sisters in the ward and not just certain ones.

Sat for some of the grandchilluns tonight - it was fun.

People can sure hurt your heart.

You Can Tell It's Monday...

When you have a million errands to do, it's threatening to rain and your rain slicker is at home.

When the Buick is acting up again.

When the week's calendar items have already been filled to overflowing.

Monday Again

Sunday was a mostly good day. Some changes are coming in the Branch - can be good and hard at the same time.

People can be hard, also.

Determined to be upbeat.

Sock

I got a good laugh on myself today when I discovered that the rain slicker I've been wearing / toting around with me for the last 4 days had a single black sock stuck to the velcro closure. It's been all over town with me.

"Terminator Salvation" was also good for a couple of laughs - although I'm pretty certain that was unintentional. I just don't really "get" science fiction. (I was the only one laughing.)

Return Home

Meeting my Sweetie at the airport with balloons was so very fun! What fun / joy / relief to have him home again. Life is sweeter with him around.

Rain

Rainy days are good days to stay at home in warm clothes, reading a good book. Not for having sore throats and feeling crummy.

Friends

Gelato with a couple of sweet friends after a Temple session warms my heart.

Wild summer rain / thunder storms can cause quite a bit of damage.

Summer allergies are miserable.

Recitals

It's great fun to go to a granddaughter's piano recital. She and her Mom did a duet and it sounded super. I love the hugs I get from those girls.

I miss my Mike. 3 days and counting.

Thunder and lightning storms can be scary. We've certainly had a lot of them this last few days - and more to come.

Another Birthday

Sharing birthday cake with a "just turned" 9 year old is great fun. She seemed genuinely pleased with the small things we gave her.

The girls in that family have learned to give the best hugs!!

I loved going to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. Still love our little Draper Temple, though.

Farewell

Dropping a loved one off at the airport can be sad. Late planes are sad, too.

Saturday

Saturdays spent at home can be fun on occasion. Mike seemed to have a good time taking the grandson on the Father / Son outing, hoping the grandson enjoyed it as well.

Saturday mornings at baptisms for neighbors can be so uplifting!

Looking forward to Saturday evening with some of the grandchilluns for celebration of a first birthday.

Feels good to have the laundry washed, dried, folded (or ironed) and put away.

Gratitude

Things to be grateful for today:
new tubes in bike tires
friends that are kind
cute little babies
finding (what seems to be) the right birthday gift
lunches out
a Husband that is so patient with me
a Husband who is willing to help keep old old cars running and mostly reliable
Jamba Juice for dinner
friends who offer rides to the Father / Sons outing so the Husband can take the grandson
good haircuts
a comfy bed

Day of Socializing

Today was strange but fun. Lunch with a friend, visiting later with another friend, son who stopped by for a visit, practicing music with neighbors, other friends driving by and waving or stopping to chat - makes a body's heart feel glad. My social skills definitely need some refining, you'd think I'd have learned those better by now. Sometimes I really wonder about some of the stuff I do, and why I do them. But thankfully, people are kind and don't point out my shortcomings.

One out of two bike tires fixed, one to go. Car going in to the shop in the a.m. I'm hoping for an easy, fairly affordable repair. It's such a hassle / pain to find a replacement used car. Not looking forward to it.

But, a beautiful day, and the flip flops are becoming easier to wear. So glad the Husband likes them.
I'm grateful for a husband who is so patient and willing to fix all the flat tires I'm getting on my bikes. Two bikes: 2 flat tires in 2 days.

Add in some car trouble and its been a bit of a discouraging day.

Monday Again

Early morning bike rides with Mike: great fun! Leaky bicycle tires: not so great.

Finch nests in the clematis with 5 eggs: fun! Birdie droppings: not so fun.

Day of birthday shopping for grandchilluns: we'll have to see on that one. (not a big shopper)

Ok, so now it's almost 9 p.m. The shopping was successful, managed to buy a couple pair of flip flops as well. The pantry is stocked (sort of) and the rain has been lovely.

But: now the Buick has issues. Sigh...
