February

Hope!
Yesterday morning, The Husband walked out to meet me in front of the house at the conclusion of my walk.  We did a quick walk across the front of the house and I was totally surprised to see these bulb shoots coming up. I mean, it's barely February!  W-a-y too early for that bit of hope to be showing itself. Still, though, I enjoy seeing the shoots.  We've quite a few coming up in the outside stairwell, also. And if one looks close enough at this picture, that teensy bit of red there?  Those are peonies just poking through the dirt.  And I'll repeat, it's barely February!!

Needs ironing.  :^)
Decided yesterday that I needed to embroider a couple kitchen towels to go with the dishcloths I'm making for a friend for her birthday.  Found some free patterns online, chose a couple and began the redwork on one yesterday.  Finished it up today.  And I'm pretty sure I'll have them done by the third week of the month, the birthday week.  I really like having a project or two in the works.

Headed up to the DMV this morning to renew the license plates for The Husband's charger.  Walked in, and was in the process of receiving my queue number when it was called, didn't even have time to sit down.  I told The Husband I felt like a VIP. Next time they'll be offering me cookies.

And I read a thriller/espionage novel by an LDS author over the weekend. I always bump my reviews of his books up a star because of his openly stated mission to keep the language clean.  I love that I never have to worry when reading his books. And I loved this part of one of his sentences:  "a triumph of hope over experience."  In doing a quick search I discovered (via the internet - purveyor of nothing but truth-hahaha) that it didn't originate with this author.  Still, though I like it, keeps us continuing on when some might say it's time to give up.

Today, I've felt productive.  Tomorrow might not be so much, but I like when stuff gets done and there's still time to read. Sure, I ought to be engaged in family history work, or cleaning out cupboards or ironing or some such.  But I'm grateful to have accomplished some things without getting all tied up in knots.

I'm grateful for the mild weather, though I know we'll be paying for the lack of precipitation come summer.  I'm grateful for something to read that brings me to an out-loud chuckle.  I'm grateful for easy dinner preparation tonight and for chocolate in the cupboard for dessert (didn't have any of that yesterday). And for ibuprofen.
