Post Mother's Day

And I'll just repeat myself here:  I'm glad it's over.

Though it was a pretty decent weekend overall.  Since rain was predicted for Friday and Saturday, The Husband did the mowing on Thursday evening.  Which greatly reduced any yard-work pressure for Saturday.  So much so, that he was able to take a luxurious 2-hour nap.  He needed it.  He enjoyed it and (though I was restless while all that napping was going on) I am glad he got it!

Love these gerbera daisies.
Dinner with some friends at P.F. Changs was lovely, though the shakes we followed up with at Johnny Rockets were w-a-y overpriced.  We rarely indulge with expensive food so it was all good.

I was asked in the middle of the week to sub for the organist at church.  Then Sunday morning I received a text asking if I could sub for R.S.  Since it's nearly impossible for me to say no I was a tad more stressed than I would have liked going into church. And once there was told that one of the women in the organist rotation is "retiring" - she feels like she's too old, it's harder and harder for her to get around with her bum knees, up and down at the organ.  That leaves us with three.  And since I've been the one everyone calls when they need to be gone, I fear I'll be playing the organ w-a-y more than I want/should/like (and frankly I don't want or like to play the organ at all).  We'll see what happens.

Pretty Costco flowers.
The Husband gifted me these lovely gerbera daisies that I planted outside first thing this morning.  With the promise of more to fill in any empty spots if I like them and they do well enough. Finding places these plants like is the key to being successful at yard plantings - at least for me that's the case.  I'm looking forward to the luxury of a gift card at Amazon that will get me something wonderful. A son brought the bowl of flowers - our granddaughter picked out the colors and I love them.  A duaghter-in-law gave me a sweet bracelet. And maybe tomorrow I'll put up a picture of the lovely wooden yarn bowl our youngest gave me.  It's just beautiful.  I never want anyone to feel obligated to present me with gifts for any occasion.  But they sure are fun to receive!  My family is very thoughtful to me.

Didn't need the Airpot.
And the funny thing that happened?  I've been looking for a water bottle - smaller than the Contigo ones I've had for years and thoroughly enjoyed.  I've got very specific parameters - which no bottle apparently could meet.  So, I settled for one from Amazon that met most of my requirements.  When the package arrived I asked The Husband - this couldn't be my water bottle could it?  It's w-a-y too big and w-a-y too heavy.  And no...it wasn't the water bottle, though it was supposed to be.  Someone in the shipping dept. wasn't paying attention I guess.  What I received was a 3.0L Bunn Airpot for dispensing hot coffee.  (No coffee drinkers in this house, not a single one.)  Amazon was great at shipping out the right bottle and I had it in 48 hours. But, they didn't seem to want me to ship this $50 airpot back.  So now (after waiting a decent interval to make sure they don't change their mind and want it back) I've got to figure out what to do with the airpot.  eBay? KSL ads? Hmmm.

Love the blooming irises by the trail.
My biggest gratitude today is for those family members who act like I'm valuable.  Who are thoughtful and kind and whose behavior helps me feel loved.  I'm grateful for some flowers that will hopefully grow and brighten our back window view, for seeds that we scattered that are sprouting and might actually turn into alyssum, for something good to read, for leftovers from dinner for dinner.  And especially that it's already halfway through Monday and in only roughly 81 hours The Husband will be home again.  Where we both like him to be.
