Rain, Rain....

There's mtns inside those clouds.
I know we live in a desert.  Not quite the total and real desert I grew up in, but still a desert of sorts.  Dry climate, minimal rainfall.  Except for this year.  I came home from yoga this morning and told The Husband I thought we were all going to be sprouting webs between our toes, we'll all be swimming around like ducks if this rain doesn't let up.

I really do try hard to not complain.  But: it would be nice to see some sunshine. I'm not ready to drive to St. George with the rest of this valley's population.  So, I'll have to be patient.  Pretty soon the sun will shine.  And then I'll be saying:  I try to not complain but I sure am ready for some cooler temps.  I guess some people just can't be pleased.

For our daughter
So, the project I was working on for our daughter's birthday was an apparent success.  I don't expect her to really ever use the market tote, just wanted to make something for her. This one looks like raffia but is such a soft polyester - can be washed! I made a smaller, different-pattern one for our granddaughter's upcoming birthday.  I suspect this one will end up being donated.  And that's fine.  I just wanted to make something for her, also.

Recently, The Husband sort of dismantled my bathroom sink.  It's been slow-draining for years and years.  Actually, I think it's been kind of a problem since we moved in.  He's cleaned it out a couple times for temporary improvement but this time he was more thorough.  There was a blockage (ewww, yuck!) in the overflow drain. Never one to shy away from solving a problem, he cleaned and cleaned.  And my sink drains better than it ever ever ever has.  One of those seemingly small problems that when fixed continue to provide a mental smile - every single time I use the sink.

For the granddaughter.
I think there must still be a bit of bacteria of some kind in the overflow - it smells a bit, well, horrid.  The strange thing is I'm the only one that can smell it!  Yesterday we trekked to Home Depot and came home with some Green Gobbler.  Applied it to the drain in my sink, The Husband's sink and the shower drain just because.  That "hope" thing.  Even put a couple of the little sticks into the overflow for a sort of preventive measure.

I'm pretty sure there's improvement in the odor.  Counting on continued improvement.

Today I'm grateful for hope.  For hope that there'll eventually be some sunshine, my spirits could really use it.  For hope that we'll manage a trip or two (or maybe even three or four) this year.  For hope that I'll be ready to teach the R.S. lesson in a couple weeks (though I totally know that hope isn't enough to be ready, I've got to take some action as well).  And I'm grateful that my sweet ministering sister had some good suggestions for remedying my stiff, painful neck.  This morning it actually felt a teensy less tight.
