Still Documenting

It's begun, the north tree.
And I'm still documenting our days with my little phone-camera.

When the tree guys left here - about 12 days ago - I was frustrated.  This project has been a tad complicated.  We'd been put off twice already, and then they didn't finish.  They couldn't get us on the schedule any earlier than today.  And today was predicted (which prediction came true) to be snowy, windy, cold and totally wet.  I just knew they weren't going to be able to get the tree removal finished for a long time.  And I dislike big projects like this that just never seem to end.

Nearly done, north tree.
So bright and early (though it wasn't at all bright out considering the unpleasant weather), there they were.  They brought their cherry-picker truck down the trail behind the house and got to work, seemingly unaware of the cold and wet.

I also just knew they couldn't finish it up in one day.  After all, they worked on the smaller tree for most of a day and left it to mock us in its uncompleted state for 12 days.  There was no possibility of finishing the one and completing the other in one day.  But here we are, just after three in the afternoon and they're done.  I'm just waiting for them to come to the door for payment.

The guys ground the stump of the first tree while the second was having its top lopped.  They've chopped and shredded and raked and hauled and it's done.

Saw this, loved it.
And I still feel like a tree murderer.  I'm having more difficulty with this than The Husband.  But it was his plan/project all along so that's not really a surprise.  Everything just feels so exposed out there.  It looks and feels strange and unfamiliar and I'm not quite liking it.  But come June when the cotton is usually flying and sticking to the bottoms of everything that comes in the house, I won't be missing the trees then.  Nor in the fall when it's usual for us to be raking leaves for weeks and weeks on end.  And I'm guessing our friend, the gutter cleaner, will also enjoy his visit to our house a bit better.

I've been working on a couple small projects, how fun to have them completed.  Something I've not done before. I have enjoyed them immensely.

General Conference this last weekend was great.  We were glued to the tv for the two days and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I've my talk assignment for the 28th and a couple ideas that are percolating in my head. As long as the sisters do their part and contribute, it might turn out just fine.

I'm so grateful today for our snug warm lovely home.  For the ability and funds to have a project or two done to completion.  And for the hope for some fun somewhere in the near future.
