Saturday

Our big goal Saturday was to clean out the corn bed in the garden.  This has been a bit of a disappointing corn year for me - those pesky stink bugs ruined my plans for happy tastebuds.  It's been such a strange weather year that most everyone I've talked to has said their gardens aren't quite up to their usual.

So, we got out (though not quite as early as we'd hoped) and spent the morning working out there.  I always renew my appreciation for those who make their living working in the heat of the summer.  I'm a total wuss when it comes to the heat.

After the work, we treated ourselves to a few minutes in the shade.  Love, love, love our trees.

Even though The Husband is no longer working for an employer, we still somehow have our schedule on a regular work week with Saturday being the chore / play day.  Most of the time.  He is making great progress on his "side" (formerly side project, now the main event) project and hopes to have it on the App store within the next week or so.  Even though he's had to learn some new stuff, I think he's enjoyed the process and it's been so good for him to be productively engaged.  I'm not sure what's next for him, but I know he's got lots of ideas.

And Dorian.  What can I say.  I'm incessantly checking the hurricane's progress and wondering how much our vacation will be impacted.  Holding my breath.

This morning's walk revealed the geese again at the park. This time I took a bunch of pictures, this particular one seemed the best though it was pretty near impossible to get the entire group of geese.  I even said (in my head) "say cheese and smile".

All in all, a pretty decent weekend.  Not super busy, not super expensive (even our trip to Costco wasn't too bad) and not super stressful.  So, yeah, a good one.
Some, not all, of the geese

I'm so grateful for my lifetime friend who reached out to me.  Even though my work in the garden was disrupted with the texts (it was good for me to stand up straight and stretch my back, though I should have just followed up with a call, then I could have actually heard her fun laugh) it was lovely to be thought of.  I'm grateful for the privilege of fasting once a month and dedicating my prayers to important things I hope for Heavenly Father's help.  I'm grateful for good books to read, and decent things to watch (yay for NetFlix and Amazon Prime).  And I'm grateful for this beautiful world.
