Yesterday morning I headed out for a walk, hadn't been gone from the house for 5 minutes when I came across the young buck that's been hanging around the area. He was smack in the middle of the sidewalk ahead of me. No picture because it was still too dark for a decent one. He kept an eye on me for quite a while even as he moved to what must have felt a safe distance. Saw him again this morning. He's been hunkering down in the yard of a neighbor who recently passed away. I think the neighbor has been in a care home for a while and the yard is full of tall cheatgrass, no one is living there so the property is pretty much undisturbed. It's been fun to see that deer there.
We also saw a couple deer this morning in another area. Just reclining on the grass chewing on whatever it was. I so love seeing them.

| Good Morning!! |
Saturday morning's walk took us past this pasture we've walked by probably a couple hundred times over the years. The minute those four horses heard our voices they were heading over to the fence. I felt bad we didn't have some kind of treat to give them. They didn't stand still long enough for me to back up to where I could catch all four of their heads hanging over the fence, but trust me, it was dang cute. Then this morning, we went past the other pasture where the colt was. That cute colt is gone. But there's a horse we didn't recognized penned up in the corner. Who also wasted not even a second coming over for some cheek rubs and weed offerings. Don't know how the horses stand the flies. ugh.

| Yum. |
I haven't been out to the garden for several days but I'm told the corn does have tassels. Yay. And this morning The Husband brought in these luscious looking tomatoes. They'll be gratefully and fully appreciated. And I was surprised to see a few lilies in the front of the garage the other day. I didn't know we had some lilies. Did I? They're pretty. Our grass isn't pretty. In an effort to reduce the water that is in such short supply, our watering has been curtailed. And it shows. Yellow and crispy aren't usually the adjectives we want to use for our grass. But that's what it is this year. I cringe when we walk past yards being watered in the early morning hours where the water is flowing heavily down the sidewalk into the street. And where the sprinklers are watering the street instead of the plants (obviously they've been set and forgotten and need some adjustment).
Still wishing for a little trip somewhere. Not willing to risk cancelled flights. And outdoor activities aren't exactly appealing during a drought / heat wave. We went to a movie instead. I thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Harris Went To Paris. Maybe not for everyone, but I thought it was delightful.
