Tuesday was the 50th anniversary of our being sealed to each other in the temple. So grateful for The Husband and how good he always is to me.
But...two colonoscopies (they were unexpectedly soon appointments) in two days with each one preceded by a full day of "prep" (ugh) with our anniversary smack in the middle meant that it kind of had to pass with a hug and kiss and happy anniversary greeting. Hopefully we'll find at least a fun dinner out together pretty soon.
One of us did super well with not only the prep but also was stellar at undergoing the colonoscopy as well as a quick recovery. The other one of us, not so stellar. Lessons learned (or maybe learned the first time around but forgotten in the intervening 12 years): leave a book in the bathroom, sitting in the chair nearest the bathroom is wise, and running between that chair and the bathroom is not only acceptable, it's pretty much mandatory. 24 hour recovery was also necessary to feel like normal. FODMAP diet recommended. Not sure about that. All that crummy procedure stuff meant that we hadn't had a proper dinner / meal together since Saturday. By last night we were about out of a few staples that we generally get at Costco. So off we went for the $1.50 hot dog and soda. (So glad Costco has root beer, it's one of the very few sodas I care for and even then only once in a while.) $3.24 for the both of us for a dinner that left us full was a bargain! We don't often eat out and while we've always been aware of that great deal at Costco, we have only bought it less than a handful of times over the years. It was just the right meal after a rough few days.
Seeing the local deer is becoming quite regular on our morning walks. This little lady thought if she was still we wouldn't see her in the tall cheatgrass. She waited until we were past then headed across the trail, quick leap over the fence and she was gone. I'll never tire of seeing these around. So grateful today to have yet another large-looming unpleasant task behind us. Because of our age, we'll likely never ever have to have another colonoscopy. And one of us is personally grateful to be avoiding Gatorade for the near (and possibly far) future.
